"We have a problem," Finn stated the next morning. We all looked up at him bewildered as he slammed the door open and walked in.
"What?" Raiden asked suddenly alert.
Finn turned to the TV before flipping through channels until he landed on the one he wanted. The first thing we saw was three kids I recognized from school.
"What about them?" Draven asked looking at Finn as if he had lost his mind.
"They're the kids that got injured during the shooting; none were seriously harmed they're not important. Just wait for it," he said looking intently at the screen. He never unmuted it just watched and waited.
The screen soon changed and the next thing we knew we were looking at photos of ourselves. Raiden cursed under his breath as he ran his hands through his hair.
"I need to call my aunt," I said getting up. "I thought talking to her would avoid reporting me to the police. If I tell her-"
"Scarlett stop." Draven said, "It's too late. They know you're with us now. Even if involving you was unintentional it's too late. They'll come after you."
"Can I call her?" I asked knowing he was right. I hoped talking to my aunt would prevent her from reporting me missing to the police. I hoped I wouldn't get in deeper in this mess than I already was. There was only one way I was getting out of this and that was to stick with them until I could leave; I couldn't just run. They had to be able to tell whoever was after them that I'm not important right?
"It's too risky now." Venus answered, "They'll start looking through your background. They'll have your full name, know everyone in your family and know what your last meal was before this happened in a matter of hours. Calling your aunt could lead them right to us."
"I'll call from a payphone. We passed one in the town. I'll call and we'll leave right away. Keep driving to Vegas until we can't." I bargained. "We have to leave through the town anyway," I added.
"Everyone get ready to leave." Raiden finally spoke up, "I'll take Scarlett to make the call and catch up to you on the road. We won't be far behind; only a few minutes."
The others nodded in agreement and I looked at Raiden in thanks. I knew what I was risking and Raiden was risking it too. Why I didn't know but I was thankful for it.
"Here," Venus said holding out a bag.
"What's this?"
"Your clothes for the day; I hope you didn't think I forgot." She said with a smirk. I groaned and took the bag unwillingly and scared to even look inside. The boys chuckled as I headed to the bathroom.
The outfit Venus chose covered a lot of skin but it was not my style. I wasn't sure if I could pull it off but as I walked out everyone gave reassurances. The black skull pullover was paired with black shorts, a pair of black knee-high socks, red doc martens and a black slouchy beanie that I would not be wearing once Raiden and I took off on the motorcycle.
I was waiting for the boys to finish packing up their things and put them in the car. Venus was checking out her nails and grimacing. I heard her mumbling earlier how she needed to sit down and do them soon. I was fumbling with my clothes trying to make the shorts longer with useless hope.
I looked up startled as Raiden grabbed my hands. He smirked down at me, "Relax Peaches, you look smoking." I turned beat red as Raiden turned to take his bag to the car. Gosh, how I hated that nickname. I glanced over to Venus who was looking at me with a smirk; probably due to my immense embarrassment.
