Term 3 of my first year in high school.

The time for music auditions.

Both daunting yet exciting moment.

A moment where your ensemble would be decided for the rest of the year and the start of next year.

I had high aspirations in music:

To get into Wind Orchestra 2 at least.

Since I play the clarinet, I doubted that I would have much chance as a lot of really good clarinet players were in the school.

Especially Xavier.

I had only forgotten all about Gabriel, the boy with the beautiful eyes and cute freckles, not long ago, and yet, I had already met another boy.

This boy was your average Asian boy:

Plays a little bit of sport and extremely good at academics.

He was really, REALLY smart and also very good at music.

Just my type.

When he smiled, I could swear the whole room lit up.

The first time I met him was during a combined clarinet lesson.

He played a beautiful and lively song, "The Merry Peasant".

"Ellie! This song will be your practice piece for the week!"

said my clarinet teacher, Ms Lofter.

And just like that, my first lesson with him ended.

Little did I know though, in the future, I wouldn't be able to stop thinking about him, even for a little bit.
