Chat Noir gently picked Ladybug up in his arms, careful not to hurt her. Gracefully, he bounded from roof to roof across the Paris skyline and onto Marinette's balcony. He bent down and carefully placed his lady in the rooftop chair that he had been in only a few months back. This place brought back memories for Chat. This was where he came up with the idea to fake his death. He knew it had affected those he loved. His father, aka Hawkmoth, had been devastated and concluded that the Cat Miraculous had been passed on to the new Chat Noir after his son had died. After all, Adrien's fake death had been really convincing. As for his friends, most of them were taking it surprisingly well. Nino and Alya seemed to be fine, and Chat had to admit, their lack of emotion surrounding his "death" hurt. On the other hand, Mari seemed devastated. It hurt him every time he saw her because he knew deep down that it was because of him she had fallen into this state of depression. Kind, sweet Mari spent her days wiping away tears that were shed for him. He was touched that she cared so much for him. But that should be expected. Always concerned for others... that's Mari.

7 weeks ago- Chat's POV

"Rena!" I called out to my fellow superhero. She was the only person who could help me. "I-I have a favor to ask you. It's a big favor, and you don't have to do it, but I really need this. Please." I begged her with pleading eyes.

Rena Rouge's face displayed a look of genuine concern. "Woah. Slow down. Why don't you try explaining to me what you need before I agree to it, okay?"

I sighed and began to tell her the whole story. I told her how my father was the one and only Hawkmoth. I told her how he knew I was Chat Noir. I told her how my life was in danger every night I stayed in that mansion. I told her how I'd been sleeping outside to get away from him. I told her everything. After I was through, she just stared at me.

"Umm... that's a lot to process Chat. And I'm not sure what I can do to help you."

"I need to fake my death. The death of my civilian identity that is. This way I can get my father off my back and I can continue fighting Akumas and save Paris."

Rena continued to stare at me. "Chat, there has to be another way."

"No, trust me. I've thought about this long and hard. This is what I have to do."

"Okay then. I trust you. What can I do to help?"

"First, I have to tell you one more thing." I lowered my head and averted her gaze. "I-I-I'm Adrien. Adrien Agreste."

Present Time

Ladybug winced in pain as Chat set her down on the chair. "You okay m'lady?"

"Chaton, I've told you. I'm fine. You really shouldn't take care of your enemy so well." She said to him with a small smile.

Chat just chuckled. "Bugaboo, you're not my enemy. I'm not sure what, or who, you are, but you're definitely not my enemy."

"What makes you so sure of that?"

"If you truly wanted to hurt me you would have already. You could overpower me in seconds if you wanted to and you haven't yet. That means there's still a part of you that knows you're doing something wrong and you don't truly want to hurt me. So, you're not really my enemy yet Bugaboo."

"You're right. I don't want to fight you. Unfortunately, I care about you, stupid kitty, and I can't seem to put my emotions aside when I fight you. Just give me your ring Chaton. All I need is your ring." Ladybug held back the tears that threatened to fall and squeezed her eyes shut.

"M'lady, are you alright?" Once again, Chat couldn't help but be concerned for his former partner. He hated himself for still caring about her even when she wasn't fighting on his side anymore. He hated himself for still loving her, but he couldn't stop.

"How many times do I have to tell you Chat? I'm fin--" Before Ladybug could finish, she buried her head in her hands and sobbed. "I can't take it anymore Chat. I don't know what to do. I need your ring to bring him back, but I don't want to hurt anyone else, especially you Chaton."

Chat Noir was confused, but at least he was getting some of his questions answered. He had been trying to figure out what motive Ladybug had for turning against him. She was always so caring towards everyone she met, so he knew something traumatizing had to have happened to change her personality so much. It all made sense. She lost someone she loved and wanted to bring him back. That's why she wanted his Miraculous.

Chat Noir still had one question "Bring back who?"

"I-it's not important. He's just a guy from my school. He died and I couldn't save him. I have a chance to bring him back and I'm going to take it. "

Ladybug paused for a second as her eyes filled with tears.

"I'm sorry Chaton."

"I know." Chat gave her a smile "Get some rest Bugaboo." He turned and lept away into the Paris night sky leaving Ladybug alone once again.

A/N: So, it's the beginning of finals weeks for me. Yes, WEEKS! So I probably won't post new chapters and if I do they'll be pretty short. I'll start posting frequently again once I get on Christmas break and I have some free time.
