Silence. That was what was heard in the grand Throne Room.

And then Nathan shouted, "What the actual fu-" he started, but I cut him off.
"Fudge?" I asked Father.

Nathan seemed to regain his senses that he was in a room full of ministers who could kick him out of Talamnh.

He shot me a grateful look that I smartly ignored.

If I was to be Empress someday, doing such favours for the cost of nothing would be stupid. Words of the ministers, not mine ..

"Language Nate," Mother reprimanded gently.

"The people of Talamnh have spoke, children." That slimy, obnoxious minister said.

Boy, you better shut that mouth or I'm gonna have to tape it up for you....

I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Forgive me for my insolence, Minister...?" I asked, not knowing that dimwit's name.

" Sir Ranginald of the Poosha." He said, his chin lifting up in pride at his name and the place he represented. If robot my question. Oh crap.

Poosha was a part of Talamnh, the only one that lay within arm's reach of the sea.

And we had to stay polite to this guy here if we ever wanted access to the beach. Humph.

Don't do it. Don't do it.

What's the joke here? His parents clearly hated him.

You should feel pity for him Andrea, not laugh,I chided myself, trying to control my laugh.

"Well, Rangy, please do elaborate on what you mean by the people having having chosen?" Nate remarked, completely stone faced.

My lips twitched.

I looked up to see my mother hiding her mouth inconspicuously and snickering softly.

If my mother had anything to do with his name...

I shot her a look,

Did you tell his parents to name him that?

I asked through the mind link

It's called balance sweety. My mother shot back, amusement thick in every word. To make up for his crappy personality, he had to be given a name that gave others joy.

I snickered and returned my attention back to Sir Ranginald of the Poosha.

"The people have lost faith. Their Hope's have diminished. It is your duty as the Heritors to lead them back to the light." Rangina- You know what? His name is not only hilarious, it's also huge-mungous! So Imma stick with Rangy. In my mind only, unfortunately. I loved the beach so...

Anyway Nathan looked furious.

" I am a secretkeeper myself. I can vouch for my slaughtered kin that they did not die naturally. They were murdered. The Volcano is not angry. And I suggest, Rangy-Trangy that you tell the people that. Andrea and the rest of us are not going anywhere on a Quest that has misplaced beliefs." He finished his speech with a flourish of his hands, as if throwing the words at the assembled ministers.

"Dramatic, but cool." I murmured to Nate.

He shot me the stink eye.

I rolled my eyes and paid attention to Rangy.

"The people believe," he began, I scoffed..yeah the people sure..." That the Volcano is indeed angry with them. They think that we have been hiding the truth from them so the Heritors do not have to go through with the Quest. No amount of telling them, sceretkeeper, would make them believe that we are not hiding an apparent secret. They are slowly losing trust. If we do not go through with this Quest, we will be facing a revolution, not small rebellions..And besides, the Volcano had made you to keep secrets of the Royals. Not read the actions committed against you." He said, condescendingly. He looked at him throuh the huge, round glasses perched on his hooked nose, his chin sticking up.

If you didn't know that he was arrogant as hell, you'd think he was trying to keep his glasses from sliding down his nose.

Hmm...maybe that's also a reason. Seriously, I've got no idea how this guy doesn't get neck pain from the way he positioned his head.

Nate glowered at the 5"3 guy, looking even shorter in front of Nate's 6"2.

I finally began to speak. This was leading us nowhere.

"Sir Ranginald of the Poosha," I began, Nate started snickering at that, I shot him a dry look.

"Please give us time to consider thi-" I said, but was cut off from Rangy.

"There is nothing to reconsider, Heritor. You must go through with the Quest." He said coolly.

"Sir Ranginald, did you just cut my daughter off? The next Empress of Talamnh, daughter of the goddess of balance? The best friend of a secretkeeper?" My mother asked, her eyes beginning to glow.

Uh oh. If there were things that my mother didn't like, imbalance and disrespect were the top two.

I shot Rangy a pitiful look. Oh boy here comes the blast-

"WELL?" My mother's voice raised ten fold, I flinched. Mother
never raised her voice.

Rangy paled.

"Sorry milady-" He began, his knees quaking.

"DON'T EVER THINK OF DISRESPECTING ANY BODY OF THE ROYAL HOUSELHOLD. AND NATHAN IS INCLUDED IN THAT LIST. THAT IS, IF YOU DO NOT WANT THE CURSE OF A GODDESS STALKING YOUR BACK?" Mother said, and although her eyes burned and her voice was very loud, her tone was very calm. Finality rang in every speck of her voice.

I nodded in thanks at my mother and began again.

"Now, Sir Ranginald, we shall have to deliberate over this and we shall get back to you by tomorrow, before the noon sun is on top of your head." I said and twirled on my feet and began walking towards the mahogany doors.

"We beg to be excused, Mother and Father?" I asked stopping at the doors.

"You have been excused." Mother said and the four of us made our way to my bedroom, to discuss this sudden development.

My soles clicked on the marble floor and we finally reached my room I threw open the doors and was determined to maintain composure.

We sat down and began to discuss our futures in this world.
