I slip into my black, flowing dress that covers me from head to toe. My hair is twisted in a tight bun ( if your wondering my hair is back to its blond. thanks to some strong shampoo) and my face has a little bit of makeup. I have a smoky eye and red lips stick.
I exit my bedroom door and walk down to where Cole is waiting for me in a tux. His hair was messy like it always was and but his face was full of sorrow and hurt, instead of pride and cockiness like always. "Ready" I asked when I finally reached him.
"Yeah, let's go." His voice was sad. I frowned walking over to him.
"I'm sorry that she died." I said looking at his clenched jaw.
"Don't be it's not your fault she was bating cancer for a long time. Now she's in a better place." this time he was finally looking at me.
Yeah, but she got out of bed because of me. if I would have came to your house or ran away from home you and your mom wouldn't have to suffer." I whisper
His gaze turns from sad to mad. "Hester" she grabbed my arms roughly " I want you in my life. And it wasn't you that did this it was your blasted father." he said a few words under his breathe.
" M father didn't know what he was doing, but I did. I did this." I don't know I felt the need defend him. like I should have been a long time ago.
" Why are you defending him, Hester O'connor " he hissed.
I turned at him and glared. "Don't you dare use my name against me. Cole David." I hissed looking him straight in the eye.
" Like you didn't." he glared back.
"No I was simply making a statement."
"And I wasn't." he said it as more of a statement than a question.
"No you weren't ." he let's out a big breathe of air.
"Can we just stop fighting please." he looked pleading at me.
"Fine." I said. but my anger was not gone. he smirked walked towards me and slung his arm around my waist giving me a sweet kiss and tugged me to the car. his driver was waiting for is out side. Cole opened the door for me and then stepped in after me.
The short ride to the funeral was short and quiet.Cole looked down at his fingers and I looked out the window.
When we finally got there I wasted no time getting out of the awkward silence car. The church that they picked out for her funeral was beautiful. I was huge all made of stone and brick. there was three huge bells at the top and one of them where ringing. Cole stepped out behind me, we linked arm and headed to the church.
Every thing in the church was white, the walls the benches , even the people. Oops. We weren't informed on this dress code. I smiled weakly, clenching more to Cole. A young man, older than Cole, steps out to greet us. Cole's face immediately brightens. Cole an the man exchanged a best hug and started talking excitedly. Cole stops and looks at me pulling me back to his side.
" This is Hester, my girlfriend." Cole smiles.
"And this is Keith." Cole pointed to the man.
"Nice to meet you. " I said.
" You as well. Cole has told me a lot about you." he smiles. " I'm his older brother. " Keith said after a moment of pause.
This time I looked at Cole in confusion. " you never told me you had a brother"
" I didn't see the point. " Cole smirks
Keith put his hands over his heart in mock hurt.
"Please, the only reason you didn't tell her about me is because your afraid that she would come crawling to me when you don't satisfy her." He sent a wink to me.
I smirks and Cole glared. " Well, that's never going to happen because she's stuck with me." he said.
Keith smirked " well now she knows me."
Cole just glared at him.
I'm sure this would have gone on forever if not for the pastor arriving and walking through the doors.
We all walk over to our seat us three in the front row and of course Coles friends where here. I said hello to Trenton, Ty, Kiel, and Adam, before sitting by Cole.
"Thank you all for coming in honor of Diana David." People around us started crying and some prayed.
"Diana was an amazing women she stood up for what she believed in. Even though she was sick she was one of the strongest people I know." The pastor said.
The rest of the funeral went like this sweet words and crying from people in the crowd.
Cole an he walked up to the stage as he gave his speech.
" My mom was one of the best people I know except my girlfriend Hester and my friends and brother but she was better than those people to." what he said get a laugh from the crowd. Cole laughs a little before continuing.
" She was strong, beautiful and kind. I always knew she was sting because she was a single parent and she had to put up with two boys and the rent. Bit, she didn't give up she always smiled and looked forward." He stops for a breath, reaching for my hand.
" When she got sick I was with her alot. And even on her worse days she would always ask me how I was. But, I would always turn that question around an ask how are you. She would smile but wouldn't answer until I did. I would say good, because I didn't want to add any worries to her. bit she could see past that and ask questions." The door opened and everyone turned around looking at the person who had entered.
When Cole looked up his eyes filled with anger an hate.
He rushed forward and in a second his fist collides with the mans jaw.
The man smirks, before sending him an evil smile. " know boy is that anyway to greet your dad."
