Sorry for spelling mistakes and improper grammar.
(This chapter is a little rushed and random and I'm sorry for it.)The next morning Remus woke up to the smell of buttered toast coming from the kitchen downstairs. Stiffly he sat up and rubbed his eyes, staring at the wall for a moment or so before he pulled his legs out from under the heavy weighted blanket.
Once he had gotten some proper cloths on he unlocked his door and made his way timidly down the stairs.
As he slowly got closer to the spot he new his mother stood cooking breakfast he could hear the hum of her soft, calming voice singing from the kitchen along to the radio.
Smiling a little bit he felt the slight twinge of hope settle in the bottom of his chest. Finally walking around the corner and knocking lightly on the door frame to the kitchen he saw how she took a quick breath in and let the singing die out.
"'Mom?" He asked, walking a few steps towards her.
"Why don't you go take a seat? I'll bring breakfast over when it's ready."
She told him, letting a forced smile take her tight lips into a hold as she turned the dial on the radio and let the sound leave the room.Feeling that twinge die a little wasn't a great way to start the morning.
Nodding and giving a tight smile back he made his way to the kitchen table and pulled a chair out, cringing at the sound of the scraping wood legs against the tiles.
Once seated it only took a moment before bacon, toast and a glass of orange juice was placed in front of him quickly.
Not looking up he heard his mother sit across from him and he silently began to dig in.They're family had always been strange, it had been from the beginning when his asshole of a father met his mom at the bar of all places.
They met up a few times before automatically deciding to tie the knot and get married.
A year or so later they got pregnant with me and had a wonderful little family.
Then of course Remus got bitten and his dad turned abusive and his mom lost her soul to this retched house and it's memories.
Now that he was gone anyone could see they weren't really sure what to do with themselves.Glancing up at his mom he let his eyes drag over her tired face, the bags had gotten bigger then they were when he left.
"What have you been up to?"
He asked, letting his eyes fall back down to rest on the plate in front of him.
Flashing a smile she began on her pancakes.
"Nothing at all really, mostly cleaning."
She answered, not looking up at him for more then ten seconds at a time.
Humming with a nod he continued to try and eat the plate of food in front of him, it was more then he usually had for breakfast at the castle. He himself, who had just found out about his dad the night before, was taking the loss pretty well considering the situation.
He wasn't really thinking about the fact that his father was gone, more of the fact that he couldn't hurt them any more.
The initial shock of it had worn off by now and he was sort of happily skipping along past reality in his head.
The question now was what was going to happen?"There's nothing we can do right now."
His mother said as if reading his thoughts.
Looking up, surprised by the sudden bluntness he opened his mouth to say something, anything that would stop the conversation from plummeting down into the depths never to be pulled out again but he quickly realized that nothing proper was going to be coming out of his mouth any time soon.
Snapping his lips together he looked away to the side of the room and out the window, only to find a small humming bird sitting softly on the bird feeder the family had put up many years ago. How it was still hanging there was a mystery to anyone that could see it.After they'd finished breakfast they silently decided that the conversation would not continue at the moment, they did the dishes and went to their separate spaces in the house.
Remus had a sneaking suspicion that this was what the rest of the summer would be like for him.
