The next day was what one would call an "adventure". There was a lot of screaming and it involved a certain James potter getting slapped.

"I was only trying to ask!"
Said boy complained as he held an ice pack against his throbbing cheek.
Lily may not look it but she packed a punch.
"Yes but getting up in her face for being concerned about another human being isn't exactly what I was thinking last night..."
Peter replied, obviously regretting his life decisions.
"There's nothing we can do about it now."
Remus voiced, feeling rather run down at the situation.
"We have another class before lunch and if we don't hurry we'll be late."

With that they all ran off to learn how to turn a toad into a piece of toast, then went for lunch.
Though non of them were particularly hungry after watching someone make it half way through the transformation .... slimy little bugger.

"What do you suppose we do for an hour?"
Sirius asked, looking at his feet with great disappointment.
He had been looking forward to jello... but he wasn't sure he could stomach it anymore.
"We could go to the library?"
Remus asked with a smile, knowing and expecting the way they all groaned at his words.
"Or we could go to the lake."
James suggested, they all seemed to agree on that.

Once at the lake they spread out across the grass, stretching and laughing at their own dumb jokes.
The feeling of happy bliss settled across the 4 of them.
It was a very sunny day, and after a while the giant squid came up, They had fun with that.
Remus lay under the shade of the trees having brought his book with him from class.
He was happily reading while the others played in the water or slept in the sun.
Sirius and James were currently wrestling in the lake, they had striped down to their pants as they didn't want to walk back to the castle soaking.
Though even if they did get their clothes wet they would have dried in minutes.

Peter, being very Peter, was currently snoring softly on the grass, the warmth of the sun burning the back of his neck slowly, but no one had the heart to wake him.

As they played in the sun they "continently" lost track of time.
Slowly they all decided to lay down on the grass for a nap and we're found there hour's later when they didn't show up for the rest of the day by McGonagall.

"I hope you know how much of a hassle you all are!"
She said, dumping a bucket of cold water over their head's and watching them scramble up with high pitched scream's.
"As much as I love to watch you Snuggle like kitten's under the sun shine I really need everyone inside right now.
School has ended and the sun should be going down soon, I will deal with all of you tomorrow."
She said sounding snippety before marching back up to the castle.

They all stood there for a good minute before rushing to grab all their stuff and running up the hill back to their dorm.
Once there they all flew up the stair's and collapsed onto their bed's.
And then, yet again, sat in silence.
Bursting out in laughter moment's later.

"Oh Merlin did you see her face?!?"
Sirius said in between gasp's.
"She seemed so SHOCKED! Like, what did she expect?!"
James added, laying on his side and looking at the other's.
After a while they all calmed down and got changed.
Then left down to the common room to sit in their favourite chair's.

"Do you guy's suppose that McGonagall will really punish us, do you?"
Peter asked once they had settled in, looking a little worried about the subject.
"Yes I'm sure she will, but she won't throw us out of the school or anything so don't be worried."
Remus told them, looking at Peter with a smile he hoped was reassuring.
"Yet..."
Sirius added, earning a smack on top of his head with a book and a good glare from Remus.

"You two really are like an old married couple."
James said with a smirk, watching as their faces burst into flames.
"How do you know we're not?"
Sirius said dramatically, draping himself over Remus's lap like a dog.
"Oh my dear husband! What ever shall we do! James simply doesn't know how to wash!"
He continued, everyone laughing as Remus shoved Sirius away onto his side of the couch with a smile and James pouted.

"Never mind, Sirius doesn't deserve someone as nice as Moony!"
They both stared at each other and gasped dramatically.
"Alright, I'm going to bed now. You're all welcome to join once you've lost some of your energy."
Remus stated, standing up and leaving the room back to their dorm.

There was a few minutes of silence once they heard the door to their dorm close.
"The school year's ending soon."
James said, looking a little sad.
"More like in two week's dingus."
Sirius added playfully but sighed as soon as he did.
"Are you guy's not looking forward to the summer?"
Peter asked, looking at them confused.
He, himself, was very excited to see his parent's for the first time in a while.
"I'm sure we all are a little excited..."
Sirius started as if he wanted to continue but didn't.

They all sat there and let the silence finally consume them starting to feel tired and heading up only to find a sleeping Remus on his bed.
They all got in themselves and slowly fell asleep, thinking of all the stuff they wanted to do before they left in two week's time....

That, of course, went by to fast for any of them to comprehend, and before they new it they were standing at the platform waiting for the train that would come to take them away from their first year at Hogwarts.
Standing there in the smoke wasn't much fun after having to polish a bunch of trophies for their punishment from McGonagall, they had just finished in time for the train so they were all quite relieved when the train did decide to show up.
They clambered on and into an empty compartment, sitting down and getting settled for the long ride home.
It was really quite hard to think of what to say in the first few moment's while they waited for the train to actually leave.
But after it had taken off they made their way about their usual businesses, talking and laughing, waiting for the next crazy inside joke to come back up as they drove back to the station.
They were all slightly heartbroken and relieved when the train did come to a stop and they all had to get their stuff and get out.

James and Peter saw their parent's immediately and ran over to give them hug's, talking about the school year and how they couldn't wait for the next.
Sirius eventually saw his family and walked over a little less warmly but still happily.
His mother giving him a forced smile, obviously uncomfortable with showing affection.
And then there was Remus's mom.
His dad no where to be seen which he thought was kind of odd, the controlling bartered didn't usually let them out of his sight.
Walking over to said mother he smiled a little bit in a sort of welcome but soon let it drop because of the grim and tired look that held his mother's face in such an unusual way.

"What's going on?"
He asked, slowing down his pace as he found himself in front of her.
Her eye's shined with tear's of what he couldn't tell was happiness or deep regret and guilt.
Blinking slowly she looked down then back up to see if anyone was paying attention, only to see the other three boy's that Remus had come off the train with to be staring curiously.
"It's your father Remus..."
She started, wiping the tear's that had gathered enough to fall down her delicate cheek's.
"He's dead."
