I texted Sarah about the sin I had committed by telling Safa that I used to meet Ayaan and she asked me to come over to her place. A restaurant wasn’t a safe place for Safa to listen to the audio notes. Though people around us didn’t know Ayaan, they were definitely going to resent him after listening to his kind words.
Luckily we were done with lunch and considering that people were waiting outside the restaurant to get a table, we had to leave. Having our private vehicles wasn’t something I admired as it increased traffic. But at that moment, it was a blessing in disguise as I desperately wanted to avoid Safa and her questions, especially when she was outraged. As soon as we reached Sarah’s place, I made myself comfortable in the bean bag that was far away from the couch that Sarah and Safa were seated in.
“So…. I’m waiting!” She was extremely curious and furious as she took glances between Sarah and me.
“Yes. I met him more than once.”
“Did you know about this?”, Safa looked at Sarah as her face started to get pale.
“Yes I did.”
“Why didn’t you two tell me?”
“I wanted you to be safe”, Sarah said.
“Hello! WE wanted you to be safe”, I corrected.
“Oh really? That explains why you told her about it”, Sarah stared at me. If only looks could kill.
“I told you, It wasn’t intentional!” We both had decided to not tell her anything and only time would tell how sorry I would be.
“What did he say?”, Safa was anxious and I could see it in her eyes that she wanted to listen to me tell her that he had changed.
“Look…. I don’t know how to say it….. I think you should listen to it.”
I never thought that I would be playing our next conversation for her, I had planned for just telling her about the first one as it would keep her away from Ayaan. Without any choice, I pulled out my phone and played it.
“What brings you here? Are you back to continue where we left off?”, he laughed.
“I heard that you love to have company. If you want, I can leave but you will loose your audience.” After a pause, I continued, “How are you doing?”
“This may disappoint you but I am doing great.”
“And why would that disappoint me?”
“If it doesn’t, you are not a man. What did Safa see in you?”
“That’s the exact the question I would want an answer to. What does Safa see in you?”
“I know the answer, but you are not going to like it.”
“Try me.”
I saw Safa's face change and I paused it. I knew it was not going to do her any good by knowing about our conversation but she was too adamant. “Look it’s better we stop.”
“I want to listen to it. No matter how awful it is. I will not run away again.”
“Yeah. Let her listen how wonderful her husband is”, Sarah said sarcastically.
“Why do you think she left you? You failed to fulfill her desires.”
“And you gave her what she wanted?”, I said with sarcasm.
“Undeniably. Safa craves domination, she likes being controlled, being crippled by her self esteem and I was giving her just that.”
“Nobody likes being crippled.”
