Calum was smiling. Not like the normal "I'm just really happy to be alive and have all the great opportunities I've been given in life" Calum smile. Not even the "I totally got laid last night and have had around 3 cups of coffee in the hour I've been awake" smile. No, it was more of an "I'm genuinely happy about something and I feel like I'll never be sad again now that this amazing thing has been given to me" smile. That made Luke happy, even if he didn't know the reasons behind it.
"Luke! What's got you in such a good mo- oh. Oh! Aw, my wittle baby's all grown up!" Calum smirked and ruffled Luke's hair, eyeing the bruises along his neck. "So, how was it? Is he any good? Is he-"
"Dude! I'm right here." Ashton giggled from behind Calum and wrapped his arms around the boy, nuzzling his face into Calum's neck. "Can you talk about Alex's dick some other time?"
Luke made eye contact with Calum through his laughing, smiling even brighter when Calum nodded. His two best friends had talked through their problems. Thank the lord.
Calum and Luke talked for a bit but Ashton got tired of standing, so he dragged Calum off to the bus to "sleep." Luke was left alone to wait for Michael so they could pack up. Before leaving, Calum assured Luke they would not be having sex on the bus, but Luke didn't believe that for a second.
So he sat in the lobby, playing on his phone. Rian and Zack both wandered down at different points, going out to say goodbye to the other two before coming back in, and talking with Luke. But both of them went back up to their rooms after a while, wanting to catch a few more hours of sleep. Luke was left to his own devices, bored out of his mind, waiting for Michael or Alex or someone!
His wish was granted as a pair of lips was pressed to his neck, arms dropped over his shoulders. Luke laughed and tossed his head back onto Alex's shoulder, smiling as he pulled away and made eye contact.
"Hey, babe." He spoke, flopping down into Luke's lap. "How are you this fine morning?" Alex dropped into a British accent, accentuating his words with a flourish of his hand.
"Much better now that you're here." Luke's fake southern drawl made Alex laugh, hiding his smiling face in his hands.
"You're so cheesy. It's almost sickening."
Luke laughed with him if a little forced. But Alex, being the amazing man he is, noticed and calmed down, turning and looking Luke straight in the eyes.
"I said almost." He was smiling, but his nervousness was clear. Luke smiled at him, relieved.
Alex curled his head forward and buried his nose into Luke's neck, lips against his collarbone. Luke smiled and kissed Alex's hair before leaning his head against the back of the chair, listening to Alex talk, feeling his breath on his skin. They sat like that for a while, Alex rambling about everything while Luke nodded along, listening but not paying attention. He kept swimming in and out of the conversation, grabbing one or two words before remembering that he was supposed to be paying attention.
"Well isn't this adorable." A voice called through the lobby. Luke turned his head towards the elevator, smiling at the sight.
Michael was walking out, bag in hand, looking like he'd been thrown down the stairs. His bright blue hair was a mess, sticking up in every which way. His eyes were sunken in and had purple rings under them, contrasting with his pale skin. His lips were red and raw, bitten down, skin peeled off. The sweater he had on was yanked over one shoulder, exposing bright red lines and deep bruises. Similar marks were visible around his one exposed wrist. He was walking with a severe limp and looked like he'd fall over any second.
Jack was about one step behind him.
"Woah! What happened to you?" Alex jumped up and jogged over, inspecting the bruises around his neck. Michael shook his head and shrugged him off. Alex laughed, shot his eyebrows up at Jack, before turning back around and meeting Luke. He kissed him and turned around, launching into a conversation with Jack about talking to management and getting a tour with 5SOS soon.
Michael and Luke made eye contact from around their boyfriends, both smirking. Luke took a few steps back, letting Michael come over and stand in front of her.
"Well, look at us," Michael spoke. His voice cracked and was hoarse, making Luke smirk at his best friend. "We both ended up with our soulmates. How are you?"
"I'm good. Great, actually. You?"
Michael turned around to smile at his boyfriend. Luke watched their interaction, smiling at his friend's happiness.
Michael turned back to him and started talking about his thoughts on Calum and Ashton. Luke nodded his head a listened, something he had been doing a lot recently, and gave his input once or twice. Now they were just waiting for an adult to tell them what to do.
After a little while, Jack walked by, smacking Michael's ass on the way and making him blush. Luke snickered and continued listening to Michael stutter his way through his sentences. He was now talking about how his friend from down in Sydney had texted him, one he hadn't talked to in years.
Alex walked up behind Luke and rested his head on Luke's shoulder, humming softly. His arms wrapped around Luke's torso, but he didn't move. Michael's smile grew slightly and shone a bit brighter.
