Temptation

15 3 1

Good King Midas, lo and behold,

Wanted everything that he touched,

To turn to gold.

Thinking not of the consequences,

But his own greed,

He lost what he loved the most,

For his golden touch, sealed the deed.

With tears streaming down his face,

He held her hand,

And wished that he was,

A better man.

If it were not for his vanity,

And his own greed,

Evil would have not planted,

Its fallowed seed.

And from that seed sprouts,

A mighty tree,

Full of rosy apples,

To tempt Adam and Eve.

As she passes beneath,

The serpent unwinds,

From its hiding place,

Deep within the vines.

Why don't you try it?

He asks in his sincere way,

It's nothing but a fruit,

Sitting there, waiting to decay.

Exposed to temptation,

Eve raises a hand to touch,

She didn't think her action,

Would amount to so much.

As the luscious gardens,

Melts away,

And leaves nothing but,

Darkened hues, of a splattered gray.

Adam and Eve knew,

That what they had,

Was no more.

As the rain started,

And began to pour.
