"Get us out of here!" Kat screamed out. Where the hell is bloody Norrington when you need him?
"Kat no ones going to let us out stop screaming." Will said annoyed.
"Well it doesn't hurt to try." Kat stated.
"Kat I love you but it hurts my ears for you to try." Elizabeth spoke up.
"Williams and Turner you're coming with us." A voice came from the dark hall. Three soldiers stepped out of the darkness to reveal themselves.
"Why?" Will inquired pushing Kat behind him.
"If you come with us you'll know why." One soldier replied.
"What about Elizabeth?" Kat asked looking towards her friend.
"He asked for you two not her." And with that Kat and Will were forcefully taken to Becketts office clamped with shackles on their wrists.
"Lord Beckett,"an soldier said as he entered the large office. "The prisoners as ordered." Lord Beckett looked up from his hushed conversation with his assistant, Mercer to see three soldiers accompany the still shackled Kat and Will into his office.
Beckett glanced at the irons, "Those won't be necessary." Mercer unlocked Will's but as he approached Kat, Beckett spoke up,"Allow me."
Kat raised and eyebrow as Beckett walked closer to her carefully unlocking her shackles and slowly moving his hands along her wrists. Kat pulled her hands away quickly looked towards Will who had a disgusted look on his face.
"The East India Trading Company has need of your services," Beckett said holding up two glass for the two to take. Kat and Will stood calmly not taking the drink. Seeing this, Beckett set the glasses down before continuing with his proposition. He walked over towards the fireplace saying as he walked, "We wish for you both to act as our agent in a business transaction with our mutual friend - Captain Sparrow."
Kat scoffed, "You and Jack Sparrow being any type of friends is hard to believe."
"We've had dealings in the past," Beckett replied picking up the rod in the fire pit that had a 'P' brand which was glowing a bright orange-red due to it previously being placed in the fire. "And we've left our marks on each other."
"What mark did he leave on you?" Will inquired.
"It's probably up his-" Kat started but was cut off by Beckett's glare.
"Tread lightly Ms. Williams." Beckett warned as he walked closer. "By your efforts," Beckett continued as he walked back towards Will. "Jack Sparrow was set free. I would like you to go to him and recover a certain property in his possession."
"Recover. At the point of a sword," Will said smugly as he gave a glance to Kat.
"Letters of Marque," he explained, opening the letters which was already signed by the King. "You will offer what amounts to a full pardon - Jack will be free, a privateer in the employ of England."
"This is a joke right?" Kat looked in between the men disbelievingly. "Jack would never trade up his freedom for you."
"Jack Sparrow is a dying breed. The world is blank edges of the map filled in. Jack must find his place in the New World or perish." Turning towards the blacksmith he said, "Not unlike you, Mr. Turner. You and your fiancée face the hangman's noose."
"And me?" Kat questioned.
"You I haven't decided just yet." Beckett answered solemnly.
"So you get both Jack and the Black Pearl," Will said thinking that was the thing Beckett wanted from the pirate.
"The Black Pearl," Beckett asked, almost confused. Why would he want a ship when he already had the makings of a powerful armada?
"The property you want that he possess," Kat elaborated more facing the wigged man.
"A ship? Hardly," Beckett replied."The item in question is considerably smaller and far more valuable. Something Sparrow keeps on his person at all times: a compass?"
Kat shot a worried look at Will. She knew exactly what he was talking about as did William. Kat knew that he held on tighter to that compass then most pirates hold on to their gold. For whatever reason he had seeing as how the stupid thing didn't work.
Seeing the knowing look Kat and Will shared, Beckett smirked proudly. "Ah, you know it." Beckett leaned in closer. "Bring back that compass, or there's no deal."
Kat and Will began to walk out of the door until Beckett called her back in. Hesitantly, Kat walked back in with an eyebrow raised. "What do you want?"
"You know Kat, I always meant to court you." He said playing with a coin in between his finger.
"Thankfully you never got around to it." Kat rolled her eyes. This conversation was going to be completely pointless.
"There is still time for us you know?" He looked up at her smirking.
"Sorry Lord Beckett but I would never accept. Not now and not ever." She sent him a glare.
"Well if that's the way you see it than you leave me no choice." Beckett made his way over to her as Kat backed up. "Your punishment for piracy will be marriage. To me. In a normal situation this wouldn't be a punishment but seeing as you resent me and love the pirate I see no better way."
"Not even in your dreams would I marry you. I would rather face the noose." Kat snarled.
"It's not a choice Ms. Williams. Bring me the compass and you will be free. Failure to do so will result in our marriage by law. No questions asked." Kat opened her mouth to interject but Beckett continued, "Instead of opening your mouth I would get a head start. You seem to have a long journey ahead of you trying to find your pirate."
And with that Kat was escorted out of the room.
