Chapter Fourteen

Yannah's Point of View

Pilit niyang inaabot ang kanyang kamay sa akin. Ilang segundo na ang lumipas pero nakapatong pa rin ako sa kanya. I am slowly accepting na siguro, eto na ang katapusan ko. 

Tears started to fall from my eyes. Pagod na ang kamay ko. My whole body was already weak. We crashed awhile ago, then we ran towards the building, and now I am on top of this zombie, trying my best to stop her from eating me.

Pagod na ako. Nanginginig na ang buong katawan ko. Anytime, ay mabibitawan ko na ang pagkakahawak sa kanyang leeg at balikat. Then she would have the opportunity to bite and eat me.

Ang sakit na ng kamay ko. I really can't do this anymore...

I closed my eyes and slowly accepted the fact that this is how my story ends. 

My hands started to let go of her. Kasabay no'n ay ang pagbukas ng pinto at pagtakbo ni Jerard patungo sa amin.

My eyes widened. I thought he would attack me or shoot me in the head. But he didn't. Instead, he pushed me aside at niyakap ang kanyang asawa. I watched in horror as the wife bit Jerard's neck. 

"AAHH!" 

Napasigaw ng malakas si Jerard ngunit nanatili siyang nakayakap sa kanyang asawa. He glanced at me and gave me a guilty smile.

"I'm sorry..." he mumbled. Tears started to fall from his eyes as his wife continued to bite his shoulder. He screamed, and that made my heart jump.

"Go..." sabi niya sa akin pero hindi ako nakagalaw. "Go!" He screamed again.

But this time, tumayo na ako at lumabas ng office. I directly closed the door at napaupo ako sa sahig. Pinapakinggan kong umiyak at sumigaw si Jerrard sa loob.

Para na akong mababaliw dito. The thought of him getting bitten by his wife was traumatizing to me. 

Napasapo ako sa aking noo and I started to cry. 

He was still screaming and sobbing. 

"I'm sorry I wasn't able to protect you..." I heard Jerrard say it to his wife. And the next thing I heard was a loud gunshot.

BANG!

Everything went quiet. He was not screaming anymore and I couldn't hear the grunting of his wife anymore. It was so quiet to the point that the silence made my ears hurt.

I continued to cry when I realized that he shot their heads together. They died together. They died laying beside each other. 

Ang bilis ng nangyari. Akala ko mamamatay na ako. Everything was still processing in my head. It took me at least ten seconds to calm down after what happened.

Tumayo na ako at kinuha ang bat ni Mel na nasa sahig. But before I could even make a step, bigla akong tumalsik sa pader dahil mayroong sumabog at bumagsok sa direksyon namin. I lifted my eyes, and I saw a helicopter. 

Nasusunog na ang paligid, half of the third floor has collapsed, at may nakadagan sa aking plywood galing sa ceiling. Even though my body was already giving up, I started to crawl para makaalis ako sa pagkakadagan.

They are waiting for me. Jeramel is waiting for me. One more step, ay maliligtas na kami. This is not the time to give up.

Hinawakan ko ang aking braso at napasigaw ako sa sakit. 

"Shit!" pagmumura ko dahil ang kalahati ng kaliwang kamay ko ay may mga burns galing sa pagsabog ng helicopter.
