Yannah's Point of View

"Zombies?" I asked. Hindi ko maintindihan, feel ko parang nasa isang dream lang kami. How come naging totoo ang zombies? I can't believe it!

Mel and Bryle were explaining everything to me.

"I know it sounds untrue, but this is really happening right now," Jeramel said.

I blinked. So that's the reason kung bakit ang daming sasakyan na humaharurot kahapon.

The memory of my parents popped out of my head. My stomach dropped and my chest hurt. Hindi ko aakalain na bigla nalang mamamatay ang mga magulang ko.

I wish this was only a dream.

"I received a message. We need to go to El Maximo, doon ang safe zone. Nakaabang na rin daw ang military at helicopters," Mel added.

El Maximo? That's very far from here. It will take more than one day if we ride a car, but if we walk, it will take a long time. Add the fact that using a car is dangerous.

"Alam ko ang daanan papunta sa El Maximo. Doon kami dati nakatira. Ngunit aabutin tayo ng madaming araw dahil 900 miles ang layo nito," ani Bryle.

Para akong nabilaukan. Eight hundred miles? Like for real? I didn't expect it to be that far. It's making me lose hope that we are gonna make it. Ang labo at ang hirap.

"How many days do we travel if we walk?" Mell asked him. Napaisip naman si Bryle.

"Sa tingin ko ay more than 25 days dahil sa umaga lang tayo pwedeng mag-travel."

Para akong nabilaukan.

"T—Twenty five days?" Mel was also surprised.

"Mahihirapan tayo. Ngunit alam kong makakarating tayo doon na buhay. Huwag tayong mawalan ng pag-asa," sabi ni Bryle.

I can see that Bryle was a very kind and caring brother. Even though I was still a stranger to them, he made me feel like I was a part of their family that they needed to protect.

Kakagising ko lang ngayon dahil naramdaman ko ang gutom. I am still recovering, so I needed to sleep and rest a lot.

"Are you hungry, Ate Yannah?" The little girl asked. Siya 'yung kasama ni Mel kanina. I forgot to ask about her kase I was really tired and in pain kanina kaya natulog na ako agad.

She knows me, so I guess they have already introduced themselves to each other.

"Yeah, how about you?" I asked. She gave me a chocolate with a smile.

"Thanks," sabi ko.

Napangiti rin ako. Chocolate was one of my favorite foods.

"I'm still full," she said, "by the way po, I am Riane."

"Nice to meet you Riane. How old are you?" I asked.

"I'm ten," she answered. Oh, so same-age lang pala sila ni Shanen. Both of them were clever, ang galing nila makipagusap.

"Oh, yung chocolate po pala is from Kuya Jeramel. He gave it to me yesterday. "
