We met in sophomore year of high school. He had moved to Miami a month before I did over the summer. When school had started the staff created a brand new group that was twice a week after school. It was a group designed for new kids of the school that had just started or had moved from a different state or country. We all that in common that we were new and they thought that it would help us make friends at the school.

First meeting was on the third day of school. He was sitting on my right side and to this day I'm so blessed and thankful that the club leader told us to introduce us to the person sitting to our right.

I'm normally a crazy and goofy person, but with strangers I tend to tone it down because not everyone likes the whole loud and weird conversations which was bizarre to me. Not being myself made me very uncomfortable but I was so happy that he was down to earth and almost my twin. He smiled at me and the first words he had ever told me were: "Isn't this shit retarded? It doesn't really make me feel any better about leaving all my old friends behind." and he chuckled.

How do I remember it exactly? Later on that day I repeated the story at least ten times calling friends and family after school. I sighed on the inside and I remember feeling relief. I could joke around with him carelessly knowing that he wouldn't get offended easily. From there our friendship flourished and we became the best of friends. We would talk every single day and he even became close friends with my older brother Isaiah.

We were three peas in a pod. He had an eight year old little sister whom I loved as if she were my own daughter. I would babysit her while her mom would work night shifts and he would be at his job. His mom saw me as her own daughter and would always poke fun at him for not dating me yet. That lady loves me so much and I love her as well, she's like my second mom. At first my parents didn't like him, well.. mostly my dad, but later on my mom liked him a lot while my dad was still stubborn about it. After meeting him life was perfect and I knew that I was catching feelings and fast. After that first day of meeting him I didn't expect him to continue to speak to me, but the next meeting when HE approached me and told me his name my joy was through the roof.
