I walked around the mall to pass the time by. I had to search for a birthday present for my father, but he was the hardest person to shop for. I ended up buying him golf accessories because that seemed to be what he was into this year. Mother wanted to go with me, so she met me at the mall and was browsing around as well. I spent some time with her until my brain couldn't handle any more of her ranting so I just separated and said I was looking for alternative presents.

I headed down to the coffee shop. It was busier than usual, but I had nothing else to do, other than wait for my mother. Suddenly, someone bumped into me, spilling their drink all over my chest. I stood there in shock and pain as I felt the hot coffee seep through my white blouse.

"Oh shit!" the gentleman said in a rough voice, grabbing as many napkins as possible. "I'm so sorry!"

I blushed. He was older, around his 40's but he looked quite fit for his age. His hair was black with some white streaks showing his maturity. His blue eyes filled with worry stared into mine, making me get lost in them. He had sort of a New York accent, clearly indicating he wasn't from around here. His clothing looked expensive, you could tell his leather jacket was top of the line, paired with dark blue jeans and some expensive leather boots. He was absolutely mesmerizing, which surprised me because I never thought I would go for older men.

"Uhm..." he said as he looked down at my shirt which was now see through.

"Oh my goodness." I said looking down and covering up my dignity.

This is by far the worst day, ever.

"Here." he said as he took off his jacket and draped it over me. It was warm and it smelled like expensive cologne, alcohol, and cigars.

"Oh no, I couldn't" I said as I attempted to remove his jacket.

"Sweetheart, you're covered in coffee." he said. "C'mon, let's go buy you something to change in to." he took my hand in his and we both swiftly left the coffee shop.

We entered the nearest clothing store, which was a younger style of fashion to my liking. "Go on, pick out whatever you like." he said as he nudged me to go browse.

All the clothes were designed for teenagers to young adults and almost a size too small for me. I picked out the least provocative top, which wasn't really helping much since it was a crop top, but I paired it with a grey cardigan. He waited for me at the cashier and I put it on the counter.

"$136.50" the cashier said, as I froze there disconcerted.

"Oh? Um I'll just take the top then." I said pulling out my card. But just as I did, the man held my hand in his.

"I'll take care of this." he said smiling. "She'll take the cardigan as well." he pulled out a black credit card.

Holy mother, an American Express Centurion!

The cashier looked just as stunned.

"Oh no, you shouldn't..." I stammered.

"Yes, yes I should, and I will." he said smiling, the slight aged laugh lines standing out. "It's the least I could do for spilling coffee all over your shirt."

"You could spill coffee over mine anytime." the cashier mumbled, thinking we couldn't hear her as she was processing our purchase.

I rolled my eyes. But he didn't pay attention to her remark. His eyes were locked on me the whole time. I was slowly getting intrigued by him. I mean, it was a nice gesture to buy me new clothes after the little incident, but to spend more than $100 was just beyond me. He took back his credit card, grabbed the shopping bag and we both walked out of the store.
