I drove home only realizing what time it was.

1AM, fuck.

I got out of my car and observed the house. All the lights were off except the a glowing one from the television in the living room. They were still awake.

I walked into the house and placed my jacket in the closet.

"Where were you Kristen?" mother asked from the couch.

"At a dinner party." I said, my heart racing.

"There was no dinner party." she said coolly. "I called your coworkers and they said they didn't have anything planned."

She's become that desperate to start calling up my coworkers.

I walked over to them, with their eyes still glued to the TV. "Who were you meeting at that fancy Georgio's restaurant?" she asked. "It was him, wasn't it."

I froze. How in the hell did she know where I was.

As if reading my mind, she held up her phone, showing me a GPS app with a dot saying "you are here."

"You're tracking me?!" I said appalled.

"Oh don't be so dramatic Kristen, it's for safety reasons." she huffed. "So, who were you with and where did you go after?"

I remembered there was no cell service at the park area, so my newly made secret spot wasn't discovered, thankfully.

I saw an opportunity to come clean, and I took it.

"I was with Nate." I said calmly.

Anger filled my parents eyes. "We told you not to see him again!" father fumed. "He doesn't match our way of life, with his expensive flowers and expensive gifts."

I huffed. "Right, your way of life." I scoffed. "Judging and gossiping about other people while pretending to be such good church goers?"

I saw the shock in their eyes but there was no stopping now. This was it. I had to put my foot down and couldn't have them insert a word in before I've finished. "You're so caught up in your own little reputations that you're not even remotely concerned for your own daughters health." It was all coming out of me now. "I was SICK with the flu and I was brought to the hospital, and all you two could think about was what people would think if someone saw me with an unknown man."

Father tried to interject. "NO!" I said. "I'm talking now."

I sighed and sat down. "Nate brought me to the hospital and took care of me. I was simply going to dinner with him to give my thanks." I explained. "You judged him by the flowers he bought me, instead of actually caring about your own daughter's well being. Do you know how frustrating and sad that is?"

I gave them a few seconds to answer. But nothing came out of their mouths.

"I'm going to pack up my things, and leave, as this..." gesturing between them and myself. ".. is not working."

I made my way swiftly to my room and slammed the door.

I didn't bother changing into anything else, as I needed to be as quick as possible. I hastily packed all my necessities. I thought of calling Nate to pick me up, but decided not to. I wanted to do this on my own. I wanted to take care of myself for once. If I were to start on my own, I'd have to make sure I save as much as possible. I called the motels in town and managed to get a good deal for a couple of nights.

I finished packing and quickly made my way downstairs, only to find my car keys gone from where I placed them.

"You're not going anywhere missy!" mother sneered behind me.
