Zachary looked at the six year old in front of him, struggling to put on his sneakers. Zachary sighed to himself. He has not been the most patient when it comes to children. Infact, he couldn't stand children.

There was just something about those creatures that put him off like the fact that they got away with all the shit you can think of. He never liked children but this one, he was different.

Ever since he was just a toddler, Zachary was asked, or rather forced to look after him while his sister went out on business trips or social events. Over the past four years he had gotten to know the boy quite well. He liked spending time with Leo and visa versa. Zachary smiled at the thought.

"Annnnd.... Done!" Leo exclaimed, hopping off the counter, grabbing his Sunday school bag and exited the house.

"It took your ass long enough" Zachary snarked.

"Shut up. It would've gone faster if you didn't just stand there and look at me struggle"

"what? Was I supposed to help you?"

"it would've been nice yeah"

"hell no. you're seven. You can put on your own shoes."

"I don't like you" Zachary just stuck out his tongue. Leo sighed and face palmed himself.

"sometimes I wonder who's the child here. Me or you" Zachary deadpanned.

"Shut the fuck up and get into the car" The car ride was relatively quiet besides the occasional singing of a line to a song on the radio or the alert of Zachary's phone when a message came through. They arrived at the big building and Zachary gathered his belongings.

"Do you have an offering for me?" Leo asked

"Honey no. throw a mint in there. The lord likes mentos." Zachary said, giving the child a mentos. Leo just gave Zachary a disappointed look and got out of the car, Zachary following suite.

They made their way inside the building and journeyed to the Sunday school class. Zachary stopped in his tracks when he saw the familiar figure laugh through the glass opening of the door. Grae looked so beautiful in the early morning sun.

the brightness of the sun really gave a glow to the boy. It highlighted his features. Made him look more perfect that he thought he was. Grae smiled, showing his beloved dimple and his fresh white teeth. The boy was a gift from the heavens.

"are you checking my teacher out?" leo asked, bringing Zachary's head out of the clouds. Zachary looked at the child dumbfounded.

"wha- no!" he exclaimed. Leo narrowed his eyes at Zachary, scanning his every movement.

"im watching you" he warned.

"just get into class" Zachary said, opening the class and pushing the boy into the class. Upon their sudden arrival, everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at the two confusedly. Leo went up to his teacher and hugged him. Thereafter, he took a seat next to his friends on the arpet. Grae looked at zahary with a hint of amusement.

"late again are we?" Grae joked.

"Its him! He couldn't put on his shoe" Zachary blamed

"Shut up you big baby" Grae said, focusing his attention on the class again. He clapped his hands getting their attention.

"Class, get inside, church is about to begin."

The children scrambled out of their seats and exited the class, not forgetting to give their beloved teacher a hug. Once the class was empty, Grae went to his desk and started packing his belongins o get ready for the service.

"You can go so long if you want" Grae offered

"Maybe I should. I have to go to the toilet."Zachary agreed, looking down at his wristwatch to check the time before church starts.

"Okay, I'll go give Alice her hymn book then I'll get us seats."

"Okay" The two of them left and went to do their respective duties before the service started.
