Zachary started the engine of his car and sped off onto the highway, leaving a confused and scared Leo on the backseat, hugging his legs with his quivering arms. Zachary was so livid, he could feel his skin crawl.
"Zachary please slow down" Leo plead but his voice sounded so distant in Zachary's ears. all sound was deafened but the livid pounding of Zachary's heart.
why was it always like this? why was it always that Grae got all the attention of the boys he wanted? Zachary knew for a fact that it wasn't Graes fault for looking like the angel he was or for having that personality that makes everyone want to be by his side 24/7. he couldn't help it, that was just the way grae was.
its just when it comes to boys, Zachary always seemed to come second in line and that on its own made Zachary sometimes wish that Grae wasn't a factor in his life.
sometimes.
then again he thought:
without Grae, he would be lost. Grae was the only person he has met who truly understands him and accepts him for who h8e is. Grae, his best friend. his brother.
slowly, he could feel his heart rate slow down and he could feel the heat on his skin drop and return to normal. he slowly eased his foot off the gas pedal and drove at a reasonable speed.
Grae would never betray him like that? Grae knows how he feels about Hayden and judging by the amount of dirty looks Grae gives him, the two of them were not going to bond any time soon.
with that taken as a thought of reassurance, he continued the rest of his journey home in peace and comfort, thinking of what he was going to cook for lunch.
*** meanwhile at Graes house***
"Alice baby get undressed and play in you room until lunch is ready!" Grae shouted from the kitchen.
Alice got off the couch and headed for the stairs.
"yes uncle Grae!" she replied, emphasizing the word uncle. grae just chuckled and rolled his eyes at the 7 year old.
just then, Hayden appeared from the bathroom and took a seat at one of the barstools opposite Graes working space.
"nice house you got here" Hayden started." its so you"
Grae plopped a few carrots onto the counter space and looked at Hayden amusedly.
"so me?" he asked inquisitively.
"Yeah," he replied, looking around the house again as if he was confirming his explanation in his head.
"well the exterior of your house is so grey and Stoney, yet the flowers on your lawn gives a soft edge to it. but when you walk inside, immediately you are hit with the most vibrant colour. the things in her just want to make you smile." he smiled and looked down onto the counter.
