Chapter 8

 Damon's POV

Tara bursts into the conference hall saying she talked to Sid. Hope bubbles up in the pit of my stomach as my eyes shoot wide open.

"What do you mean you talked to her?" I ask her "How?"

"Hide and seek!" Shima jumps up pointing at Tara, now I'm lost and want in on the inside reference.

"What?" shadow and I say at the same time. He's just as confused as I am.

"Shima had Sid and I play hide and seek in the woods to help us learn how to use our powers. She taught us that we can find each other we have a color aura if you will. That leaves a trail for me to find her, but this only works if the other wants to be found. Before her aura couldn't show because she said some witch did something to her causing her to stay hidden. Now I can find her since I broke through whatever the witch did." Tara says looking at Shima and me with a glimmer of hope in her eyes.

"So you can lead us to her then?" I ask

"Yes, I can take us to her." I walk up to her wrapping her in my arms swinging her around kissing her forehead.

"Your the best Tar!" We hear a growl coming from the other side of the table. I look at Shadow and his eyes are flickering from Ice blue to gray, ~What's his deal?~ Tar rings in my head ~UH you'll fling out later.~ I mind link her back, I set her down and clear my throat as Shima looks at me funny. ~Stop looking at me like that I have a mate Xantara is my sister.~ I say through mind link to Shima.

"Alright I'll take Shadow to the area Sid was taken to look for more clues and Tar you head out with Shima and work on your abilities with Shima," I say Tar nods and leaves with Shima and Shadow and I shift outside and head to the tree.

"Can Xantara fight?" Shadow asks me as we walk back to the pack grounds from the garden.

"Xedna taught me self-defense when we found out we were going to the same college," Tara says from behind us walking up the garden from Shima's house.

"So you know how to defend yourself. Can you cause any real damage?" Shadow says to her.

"I don't know wanna be the first to find out?" she says with an attitude, Shadow just half-smiles at her.

"Maybe I'll take you up on that later. Might be good." He says looking her up and down. Tara looks at me

~Is he for real~ She rings in my head. ~unfortunately yes he is. Sorry~ I say back to her she shakes her head.

"Xedna knows how to fight?" Shadow asks her.

"Yeah her dad would train her a lot of the time. She rarely got to go out and do anything. I remember having to beg her dad to let her come with me to a school dance once." she says glancing between me and Shadow.

"What was her dad's name?" I ask her

"Wade White... why?" she says confused. Shadow and I look at each other. Wade used to be Samael's, right-hand man. He did a lot of dirty work for Samael. Now it makes sense why Xedna is the way she is because she had a ruthless and diligent father. He wasn't all there in the head. We knew He was good before Samael got into his head even more. I guess he finally got away from him in the end.

" If she was trained by a guardian how the hell did a guardian get a hold of her. She must have been seriously distracted, they don't just lower their guard that easily." Shadow says looking between me and Tara.

"I think I'm to blame for that," I say

" Yeah me too I've been messing with her a lot lately, she's been stressed to the max as well," Tara says looking at her fingers like a troubled kid. Suddenly I started to feel terrible was this my fault for why she got captured? If it was I was going to fight like hell to get her back here and safe. We have everything together and ready to go when we look to Xantara to give us directions. We stand there watching as she closes her eyes and breaths. When she opens them I see her eyes flick from black to green.
