Chapter 10

Sid's P.O.V.

After telling Damon I didn't want to move into his room even after everything that happened recently I agreed to sleep in a room of my own across from his until I.. Uh... We got to know each other more, but with Tara gone, I've been avoiding Damon so much that I made getting to know him harder. I would hang out with Victor and Letty most of the time trying to help around the pack grounds to keep myself busy. While working in the garden the pups decided they want to acquaint themselves with me. While I was de-weeding the garden a little pup came up to me blocking the sun. I look up to see who it was and I'm surprised when I see a little girl and a group of other pups behind her. She stands there looking at me holding a floppy-looking teddy bear in front of her. "Hello," I say looking at her and raising my arm to block the sun from my eyes. "Are you uncle Damon's girlfriend?" She says to me. I look at her my eyes almost bulging out of my head. " Umm..." I'm stunned so much that I can't form words. It's times like this that I wish Tara were her to save me from awkward silences. After a couple of moments of staring at each other, I reply "Umm, yes I'm Damon's girlfriend, but don't tell him I said that he'll get a big head about me saying that out loud." I wink at her and smile she giggles at my comment. "Come play tag with us, auntie." She says and it tugs at my heart hearing someone call me auntie. To have more family than just Tara and me would be amazing this place and the people have shown me that I can trust them I just have to let my walls down. "ok." I say standing up and dusting myself off. " My name is Xenda but you can call me Sid," I say to the kiddos " I'm Katarina but you can call me Kat, this is my friend Xavier and Xander." I wave at the boys they seem to be twins. "And this is is my other friend Adalyn but you can call her Addie," Kat says as she introduces all of the rest of the pups there had to be ten from what I could count they all moved around too much. " Ok, I'm it run!" I say chasing the pups around the playground they all scream in excitement I chase them and tag me (I'm letting them.) this goes on for about ten minutes until I playfully collapse to the floor out of breath. I lay there and try to catch my breath when the pups come over and jump on me causing me to jump I'm under a pile of kids being tickled until Victor comes over and saves me running over roaring playfully chasing the pups to get them off of me."I'll have you know I had them right where I wanted them," I say trying to catch my breath."Oh, that's what you were calling that? I thought you were being overrun by pups," he says giving me a hand to help me off the floor. I stand dusting myself off "Thanks." "Come back and play with us!" Kat says holding my hand trying to pull me towards the kids.
"I should really get this work done. How about I come out and play with you guys tomorrow when I'm done training?" Kat tilts her head thinking for a moment and then nods her head in agreement "OK! I'm going to get you after training then." I nod my head and watch as she runs off towards the pups all talking to each other.
"You are so cute!" Victor says teasing me. I roll my eyes walking back to the garden.
" Thanks, I'll be sure to tell Damon you said that."
" He'll agree with me, but he knows we're just friends so I can't say I'll get much slack for it. Hey, why aren't you hanging out with him right now? he just got done with training. He's probably in his office right now." he says winking at me.
" Oh, I uh I don't want to bother his work so I busy myself," I say trying to busy myself with the garden again.
"Sounds like your avoiding him," Vic says cocking an eyebrow up looking at me. I don't answer him because that's exactly what I'm doing, avoiding Damon. There it is again that damn awkward silence.
"Why are you avoiding him, Sid?" He says as if reading my mind. He nudges me with his elbow. He had joined me on the ground pulling weeds.
"I don't know."
"Don't give me that you know exactly why you are avoiding him. You like him I know you do. I see the way you look at him from across a room." Vic says
I look up at him confused yes I like him but I don't stare at Damon any differently than I do anyone else. What was he talking about?
" Oh Yes, you do. your face lights up when he's in the room we hear your heart rate pick up when he's around you but every time he walks to you you leave the room leaving him high and dry. He's having trouble reading you." He pauses for a moment I look at him his face looks like he's contemplating telling me the next bit of information. " He's thinking you are going to reject him." he finally says after a minute of silence.
" I'm not going to do that. I'm still trying to process all of this as well as being away from my sister since you guys have saved me I haven't exactly been
able to talk like I used to. With Tara gone I have to learn how to communicate with other people now. All of this is new to me. I've only ever had Tara I've also never dated someone and liked them so much." I say taking a deep breath not realizing I was holding it.
"Wait does that mean you've never?" victor says trailing off I roll my eyes at him knowing what he was referring to.
"No you twit I've had sex before, I've just never dated... you know use em and lose em. I'm worried that's what I'll do to Damon, what if it's just something
I need to get out of my system. I don't want to hurt him." I say messing with my fingers nervously. Victor stares at me blankly processing what I've said.
"Nah I don't think that will happen. I've seen the way you look at him I watch you guys when you're together. This isn't a fling trust me. You look at him like your head over heels in love with him, you just haven't realized it yet." with that being said he gets up pats me on the head, and leaves me with my thoughts and the gardening.
"There done," I say out loud getting off the floor and dusting myself of all the dirt and mud on me. I finish cleaning up the weeds and walk to the front of the packhouse to see Damon there talking with Eric and Victor together. they all stop talking when I come around the corner. I stop and smile at them and wave.
"Where do I take this?" I ask referring to the trash bag I have on my back. Damon looks at them and they bow their heads walking away. I'm assuming pack business mind link. Damon turns looking at me smiling. " I can take that if you like?"
"Actually yes, please. I've been on my hands and knees all day I'm tired," I say walking over to him. He stopped walking for a minute looking at me with a smirk on his face. I roll my eyes when I realizing he's thinking dirty.
"Not that you perv I was working in the garden!" I yell.
"I know I can see the dirt all over you," he says nonchalantly looking me up and down still smirking at me. I walk with him to the garbage bins so I know where they are for next time. I'm not gonna lie there has been this sudden need and want to be around him more. I feel like I'm being pulled to him more than normal. I watch him as he throws the bag away. His muscles contracting as he does this. Did I forget to mention he's not wearing a shirt. I feel like he does this on purpose now because he's always topless, or that's just how he's been all along and I'm just now realizing it. He turns around noticing me looking at him and he smiles as his eyes flicker from brown to gold. " Ah, shit!" I say as my breathing becomes hitched. He steps toward me to which I step back into a tree and before I can move Damon is in front of me looking down at me as he pins me to the tree with his body. This happens every time he catches me looking at him. I end up pinned to something he has a moment and I push him away. Damon moves his hand to my arm touching my skin lightly knowing I can feel the sparks that ignite every time he touches me. I look him in the eyes not breaking eye contact. My heart is beating so fast I can hear it in my ears. Damon leans down and places a soft kiss on my lips and pulling away but before he can get away I pull him back and kiss him hard with need and he replies back with the same need, his arms wrap around my waist pulling me closer to him. I bring my arms up to his shoulders holding onto him. He bites my bottom lip causing me to let out a small moan and he flicks his tongue in finding mine making me melt into him more his left-hand moves to my face moving to the back of my neck pressing me even closer to him as his other hand finds its way under my shirt as he feels his way around. That's when I push him away trying to catch my breath.
"I'm sorry I shouldn't have started that," I say through my hitch breathing while mentally scolding myself for being this shy around him. Damon stands there looking at me catching his breath as well his eyes still flickering from brown to gold. " I'm not sorry I've been trying to be alone with you for a while now but you keep running from me," he says as we walk back up to me staring me down as he walks back up to me wrapping his arms around my waist holding me close to him again as he places kisses on my shoulder to my neck and inhaling deep as he rests his head there. I finally cave and wrap my arms around him bringing him closer and doing the same.
"I'm sorry," I say again inhaling his scent of lavender and cypres letting it calm me. Damon pulls away from me looking at me, I'm looking at the ground at this point.
"what are you sorry for?"
" I know you've been trying to catch up to me, I've been pushing you away, I'm afraid to get too close to you. I'm not sure still what this is but I know I like you.. a lot! I'm just having trouble communicating this. And with Tara gone I'm trying to keep busy I miss her." I say as a tear falls stray from my eye. He raises his hand to my chin pulling it up forcing me to make eye contact with him. " I understand Tara told me about this. I'm willing to wait but I won't let you push me away anymore I know you feel something here. I won't let you run from me if you like I'll request a visit with Shadow to see Tara... if you like." He says not breaking eye contact with me. a giant smile spread across my face and he smiles back. "I'll take that as a yes then?" He says I stand on my toes to reach him and put a small kiss on his lips. He picks me up and I wrap my legs around his waist and kiss him again as he walks us back to the packhouse and puts me down before we walk inside together. Victor smirking at me. He knew his talk would make me cave in. I stick my tongue out at him walking upstairs to my room for a shower.
