"So you got his number last night?" Alice teased, causing Penny's blush to increase.
"Yes I did, now would you leave me alone?" Penny sighed, snuggling under the blanket she got in the gift from her secret admirer last night.
"I'm not trying to tease you, Pen, I'm just curious. What made you decide to ask him if he wanted to come with us? I think it was great, but that's not your typical M.O."
"God, I wish I had been there," Thea sighed from her position next to Penny, looking up at her with a cheeky smile. "I would have loved to see you make a move like that. Why didn't you invite us?"
"Hey, we invited y'all over and invited you to sleep on our couch." Penny narrowed her eyes at Thea and Lily who just smiled innocently in response. "Anyways, honestly, I think I'm just as surprised as you are, Viv." Penny chuckled. "Part of it was because the universe just kept throwing us together and I don't know, it felt like the right thing to do. The other part, the bigger part of it, is that during that short, three-sentence interaction, I felt genuinely happy. With two sentences, he made me smile. I'm not saying I think we're soulmates or meant to be together or that it'll progress to anything even slightly romantic. All I know is that that was the first time since everything happened that I forgot about it for a moment, that I felt happy for a moment. That's something that I could really use in my life right now, in whatever regard it comes in."
"I'm happy for you, Pen. Really, I am." Alice squeezed her hand. "And I'm so proud of you for taking that step to try to be happy."
"Thanks, guys, but can we please not make a big deal out of. I'm just hoping we can form a friendship out of this. I'm just trying to make the best of everything going on."
"We got you, Penny. I promise we won't make a big deal out of it. Right, girls?" Juliet glared at the other girls, silently telling them that they better agree with her. After they all nodded, Juliet let out a satisfied smile.
"All right, I need coffee." Penny slapped her thighs, standing up. "Do we have any here?"
"Penny, you've already had two cups here this morning, I don't think you need any more coffee."
"You're so right, Viv. I've had two cups here. I don't need any more of this coffee!"
"No, uh, Penny, that's not..." Viv trailed off, realizing that there was no chance of getting between Penny and her coffee, so it was just a waste of breath. "I'll come with you."
"We'll come, too." Lily shoved Thea's legs off of her before picking her head up from Brynn's lap. "I've got to head back to the house."
"Us, too." Brynn smiled, hip checking Alice as she got up and walked past. "Thea and I have lunch plans we need to get ready for."
"Not to make a big deal out of anything, because we promised not to make a big deal out of it, but you should totally invite Daniel to do something today. Keep that happy in your life, my dude."
"Yes, I will do that, Jules! But first, coffee!" She skipped to the door, looking back at the other girls to see if they were coming. With a sigh, they all got up and joined her, figuring it would be good to get out of the apartment whenever they could.
"Okay, now that you've gotten an obscene amount of coffee in your body, time to text Daniel and invite him to do something," Alice said as they walked out of Cozy Beans.
"Do something like what?" Penny scoffed, coming up empty when she tried to come up with ideas.
"OH! I got it! You know what we should do?" Jules bounced up and down, hardly able to contain her excitement. "We should go to Pike Place! We haven't been there in forever. It could be nice to get away from campus for a little while!"
