Chapter 10: Black Feathers upon Draconic Steel
The light shined down onto the stage. Standing there was a man, he was wrapped in a cloak, the only visible part of him was his eyes. The cloak itself was white as he also wore a mask that was plane, but metallic. Beside him was Gale and Strix, both girls standing firm as they looked at the girls. “Welcome, Yugo Hateme. Our meeting has been a bit overdue.” The man known as Saizo said. He raised his hands, showing they were covered in some sort of suite, a Dueldisk sitting on his right arm. “I will admit, I was only expecting you but I suppose bringing guests is warranted.”
“I’ll say.” Yugo said.
“I can tell you are rather…. angry about this. I do not blame you one bit. You are young, unable to understand what I wish to accomplish here.”
“I think I understand perfectly what’s going on here.” Yugo said. “I just don’t agree with any of it.”
“A shame. What I hope to accomplish here is something that has been overdued as well. Tell me Yugo, do you think you’re goal will be accomplished here today?”
“I do.”
“You’re confidence is to be admired, but allow me to explain at least my reasoning.”
“Sure, why not.”
“I thank you.” Saizo let out a sigh as he begun. “As I am sure you have learned, my goal is for a cleansing. Humanity has grown…. bitter. Thirty Years ago, the world first came into contact with Spirit kind. True, they brought destruction but Humanity only saw one thing; a danger. A Threat. While they are not wrong.” His gaze went towards the girls. “We only saw them as such. When I became a Wizard, and I met my first Spirit I knew there could be potential. But unlike your group I do not seek to partner with them, for their power is still in their will, and unlike Wescott I am not too detached to tourture them. However I did find one way.” He held out his arm. “It was in my veins, and from my own pain.” He waved his hand to Gale. “They were born. With them, I seek to cleanse humanity, to root out the wicked and tear away the sin. From there, we can grow a new world. A better world.”
As everyone listened, it was clear he wasn’t wrong. This world could do without someone like Wescott and others who may wish to do as much harm…. odds are he will aim for people he deems evil, this could include those in the AST, but worse, there will be resistance, and where there is a battle, casualties as well. “And what about the Spirits?” Yugo asked. “Simple: They either join or stay out of my way. If they dare stand in my way, they shall be cleansed as well.” All the girls got varying looks of fear or anger. Being threatened like this does not sit well with them, nor Yugo.
“And so how many do you think will fall? You do know once Giant Monsters start showing up, the Military forces of every country will be on high alert.” Yugo said.
“The same deal for them. They will either stand down, or they will be cleansed as well.”
Yugo just shook his head. “So that’s the plan? Kill whoever works for DEM and then threaten the rest of the world?”
“It is.”
“Well, just one problem with your plan: It won’t get off the ground.” Yugo said as he got onto the stage. Gale and Strix took stepped forward, as did Origami and Miku. Saizo let out a chuckle. “The parallels are strong between us.” Saizo looked at Yugo, Yugo feeling his gaze as the young man looked back. “Master.” Saizo looked to see Gale on her knee. “Right. Your Duel.” He looked back at Yugo. With a wave of his hand, Miku and Origami were pushed off the stage as a barrier formed. Strix grabbed Saizo and the two teleported to a higher balcony. “We will discuss further Yugo, but for now I wish to witness a Duel between two powerful Duelists.” Saizo said.
