Chpt 8: Planning and Downtime
Yugo sat in a small meeting room, everyone gathered with him of course. Origami leaned on Yugo, just wanting to be close to him now. Miku did much the same as well, and while Yugo appreciated the attention….he had other things on his mind. “Tell me Yugo.” Kotori said. “Do you have any idea what their plan may be?” Kotori asked.
Yugo was quiet for a moment. “Hard to say. This entire time they been collecting Souls, odds are more around the world then just here. Because of that…. odds are their plan might be releasing more of them.” Yugo said.
“You’re saying make more girls like them?” Shido asked.“No.” Yugo pulled out the three cards that were Peya, El, and Blaze. “These were the girls we have beaten so far, minus Strix as she got to live. While Peya and El aren’t something I would consider a threat. Blaze’s original form.” Yugo pointed to Red Dragon Archfiend. “I would say be a very big threat.” Everyone looked at the dragon and got an idea of what they could be dealing with. “This might be their plan, wipe us out by using the monsters.”
“So? If they try, we can kick their butts.” Kaguya said.
“Affirmative: We will be able to fight.” Yuzuru said.
“I don’t think so.” Kotori said. “Even with Miku and Origami unsealed, what are the odds they’ll have numbers?”
“A lot.” Yugo said. “There is over 1000s of cards, and many of them are monsters. Of course nothing says they couldn’t make multiples of one card.”
“But there is a question we haven’t asked yet: Who is their master?” Kurumi asked.Everyone knew that was the biggest question: Who was leading them. Gale is only the commander. Someone has to be the General. “Could it be a Wizard?” Origami offered. Everyone who was aware of what a wizard is. “Wizard?” Yugo asked. “A Wizard is what I was.” Origami said. “A human infused with Mana, in order to fight spirits.”
“It would make sense.” Reine said. “It would be why they are looking for Souls. Only so much Mana a Wizard could give off.”
“If it is a Wizard, we’ll need to see if any Wizards went rogue in the past few days.” Kotori said.
“Or weeks. I doubt they managed to get what they needed in three days.” Reine said.“Right. Till then, guess we’ll see if they kept their word. You should also probably consider getting ready in your own way.” With that, the little meeting was over and Yugo felt heavy. Like the sudden weight of the situation decided to rear its head and landed on him. “Darling?” Yugo snapped out of his daze and looked at Miku. “Sorry.” He said with a semi-forced smile. “I just kinda….had a realization of sorts.” He said. “I just think I need a moment.”
Yugo stood up. Origami and Miku watched Yugo leave the room. The twins had watched Yugo leave and Kaguya was the first to spoke. “Take it he isn't adapting to the sudden shift in things huh?”
“Observation: Perhaps the inclusion of Master Origami in these duels has brought fourth a sense urgency to the situation.” Yuzuru said.
Both girls knew well that is what was going through Yugo. Even though he knew Origami and Miku both were there for him, Yugo himself still felt this sense that any harm that could come to them would be a result of weakness within himself.
Yugo had walked around the halls of the ship for a bit, just simply lost in his thoughts. He found himself in what looked like a small break room. He walked over to one of the vending machines. Maybe a small drink might calm him or something. “Yugo.” He jumped and turned around to see Reine standing there. “Oh hey.” He said looking back at the machine.
“How are you feeling?” Yugo froze for a moment at the question. It was a simple question, one that almost could be said in passing, but right now it was a bit heavier. “I’m-”
