Chapter 8

Gauri was astonished to see Omkara's room. His room was full of paints. He had left a few bottles open. Mad man!
"I can't stay here!" she gasped before running downstairs. Omkara frowned. Why is she so rude? Couldn't she simply say that she would like to sit somewhere else?
Omkara followed her downstairs. She was stamding near a sofa.
"Why did you leave?" he asked. He was angry. How could she just leave!?
"There are paints in your room and I am allergic to paints," Gauri said.
"Oh!" Now Omkara was feeling guilty for judging her.

He decided to take her to the poolside.  He asked a servant to set two chairs there and also told her to bring something to eat.

Gauri was amazed to see the poolside. She has seen ponds and rivers but this is something else. This is so beautiful!
"Do you bathe here?!" Gauri couldn’t help asking and he burst out into laughter. Gauri was now embarrassed. Did she say something embarassing that he is laughing like that?
"No,we don't," said Omkara stoping his laughter. He felt that this girl was too naive and innocent.

Gauri did not speak much after that incident. She did not want him to make fun of her.

Anika came back and saw the papers Gauri had brought. She was ready for the contract and told Gauri that this is going to be a huge project. After that Gauri left.

Omkara did not know what was happening to him. He comes to his sister -in-law's bakery everyday. He sits there for hours. He tells everyone that he gets inspiration for his art when he comes here. He drinks many cups of coffee. He comes in the afternoon and stays until the bakery closes. They are preparing for a huge order these days. And he sees a tiny little human running around and working. A smile appears on his face everytime he sees her. He never talks to her. They never spoke after the day she came home. It's almost a month now.

"Please take one laddoo," Omkara heard a timid voice. He looked up from his sketchbook and saw Gauri.
"Why?" he asked.
"Umm...I got my first salary today. Tha't why I am distributing laddoos."
"Oh! Congrats" he said picking one. Gauri gave a small smile and left. Damn!! He hates sweets. But he could not say no to her. He painfully ate it. He could not throw away a thing she has given. And why can't he? Who is she to him? Omkara doesn't know the answer.

Omkara and Anika were going to home. It was late night because Anika had work and Om had a chance to see Gauri. They saw Gauri searching for an auto-rickshaw.
"Gauri,come here. We'll give you a lift. Where do you live?"
"No,thanks,madam. I live in the opposite direction. You don't need to do that," Gauri said politely.
"Wait. You live with Saumya right?" asked Anika.
"Yes," said Gauri.
"Rudy abd his friends are having a nightout. Saumya is also there. You come with us."
"Thanks but I can manage. I should go home," Gauri said.
"No more arguments. You are coming with us," Anika said in a bossy tone.

Omkara could not concentrate on driving. Since Gauri had got into the car he was getting a beautiful fragrance. It was like thousands of flowers were around him. Is it her smell? Oh God!!! All he wants is getting that fregrance from closer. Omkara inhaled deeply. No perfume can ever defeat this. Omkara groaned inwardly. He needs a shower. What the hell is happening!?

Anika told everybody that Gauri and Saumya are staying. Gauri was feeling awkward. How can she just stay? But everybody welcomed her warmly. Priyanka gave her a kurti to wear. Gauri had eaten and gone to sleep.

"Ha ha ha!!!" Rudra laughed victoriously.
"Rudra,tell us your plan. Do this drama later." Saumya said disinterestedly.
"We are gonna scare Gauri di," Rudra said, "And O the boring is also not here to interfere and say it's mot right!"
"But why scare the poor soul?" asked Anika.
"That's a rule. Whoever is new here has to face my pranks. Now it's her turn!"
Rudra's friends were also excited to scare the new girl.
"It is going to be fun!" said Rudra.
