"What are you doing here, son?" Omkara looked up hearing the voice only to see an old woman standing there.
"Who...who are you?" he asked.
"I am nobody. I just stay in this mandir," she said smiling.
He had come to the temple where he had met Gauri for the first time.
"Oh," he said looking down.
"What is your problem, beta?" the woman asked lovingly.
"The one I love left me," he said sadly.
"Didn't you try to stop her?"
Omkara chuckled humorlessly.
"What's the point in trying to stop someone who isn't yours?"
"That's where you make a mistake," the older woman said smiling knowingly.
"What mistake?" Omkara asked frowning.
"The mistake of letting your love go! You people think they aren't yours. Did you ever try to make her truly yours and also become theirs? Did you ever confess how much you love them?"
"Uhh....no," Omkara said looking down.
"Shouldn’t you tell her how much you love her?" she smiled.
"Hmm...maybe you are right,"
"So just go and tell her."
"Now?! Isn't it too late in the night?" Omkara asked unsure.
"Never is too late go to your love," smiled the older woman. Omkara smiled brightly and got up and ran towards his car. Before getting inside he gave her one last look and she was smiling.
Gauri looked at her phone to see the time. It was 3 in the morning. Sleep wasn't going to come tonight. She sighed. She concentrated on the sound outside. The sound of raindrops... It was raining heavily outside.Rain...
Gauri didn't know why she felt so connected to it. She felt like something was gonna happen.
Gauri frowned hearing loud noises. What was that? She walked to the window only to be pleasantly surprised. There stood Omkara on his car getting drenched in the rain.
"GAURIIIII!" he shouted. That's when reality crashed on her. What the hell was he doing on top of his car? Why was he getting drenched? Is he mad? What if he got sick!
"Gauri,I need to tell you something really important! " he shouted again.
By now everyone had come to stand at the window after hearing this commotion. Gauri felt uncomfortable.
"What is it,Omkaraji?"
"Come down. I have to tell you something," Omkara shouted but Gauri could not hear properly because of the sound of the rain and also she was on third floor.
Seeing her frowning he decided to go to her. He went inside the hostel only to meet the manager,a lady in her forties probably.
"Oo chokra (boy) you can't go inside a
a lady's hostel. Get out," she said sternly.
"I don't care. I want to meet Gauri," Omkara said nonchalantly. By the time Gauri had come downstairs. He smiled dreamily, looking at Gauri.
"Hey Gauri,I did not think you are that kind of a girl. What is this? You are bringing men after you here. If you want to have affairs,do it ouside," the woman yelled.
"What did you say?" Omkara roared," What affairs? Don't you dare to say anything about Gauri. Otherwise I'll ruin this place of yours." The woman nodded feeling scared. Holding Gauri's hands he led her outside.
"Please, get in the car," he said.
"Where are you taking me?" Gauri asked.
"Just trust me," Omkara whispered and Gauri sighed. She trusted him....more than anyone else. So she would go with him.
The car stopped in front of the temple...the temple where they had met for the first time. Omkara opened the door for her and held his hand out. Gauri placed her hand on his and came out. It was raining heavily but the scene was ethereal. Nobody would want to take their eyes off. The trees around the temple had a natural beauty and the sky had a very different colour, the colour which is very rare and only happens when the monsoon shows its best rain. Gauri enjoyed the rain falling on her body while Omkara dragged her in front of the stairs of the temple.
He sat on his knees and looked at her with intense eyes. Gauri saw an unknown emotion in his eyes.
"Gauri,do you remember the day we had had first met?" he asked holding her hand.
"I do." Gauri replied.
"Do you remember the day you had found me after I went away from home?"
"I do."
"Do you remember the day we had our first paani puri togethere? And the first time we sat in the rickshaw together? And your first ever radio show? I had stayed awake that night to listen to your show," Omkara said desperately.
"Why are you asking all this,Omkaraji?"
"Because I remember it all. I remember all of those times, those moments, each and every second. Those are the moments I cherish the most."
"What do you mean?"
Omkara looked up at the sky and smiled. The nature was so beautiful. Lovers do so many arrangements to propose their loved one but he did none. He didn't have to. The nature itself was so beautiful and tonight it had shown another of its beautiful sides. He held Gauri's hands tightly and looked at her intently. He could see confusion in her eyes but he wanted to see love. Love for him. Taking a deep breath he said slowly, "I love you,Gauri....
How was the confession? Was it boring? I didn't really wanted it to be something extravagant. I wanted to be simple yet amazing, something in their own style. Did you like it or not?
