Chapter 31

-Katniss' POV-

I'm very careful around the house now, making sure they don't find out about my arms. Luckily, no one has seen or found out yet.

I'm not one of those people who constantly cuts. I cut maybe once every other day, so it's not that bad compared to lots of other people.

I have to change my bandages every day to make sure they don't get infected. They haven't yet, thankfully. I'm quite lucky I have a lot of long sleeve tops and hoodies, which I quite like wearing.

I still feel really bad for screaming at Peeta like that the other day. He knows I didn't mean it yet he still forgave me. I really don't get how that boy can love me so much and forgive me each time..

I'm sat on the sofa with Prim hike I help her with homework. Peeta of course comes and sits next to me and puts an arm over my shoulder and leans over me to see what Prim is doing.

After about another 15 minutes Prim is done and leaves to go over Rue's. That leaves me and Peeta on the sofa together. Careful mode - on.

I hold the bottom of my sleeves down in my hand so he can't pull my sleeves up for any reason.

"Oh Lilly's mum rung earlier, she was looking for you but I said you were busy. Anyway, she was asking if you could look after the girls tonight because she has to go somewhere. She wants you to ring her back when you get time" he says.

"Oh, okay" I shrug as I go to get up to go to the house phone when Peeta pulls me back onto the sofa. "Let me go and phone her back!" I shout.

"Nope" he says chuckling.

"Peeta" I growl.

He lets me go and I go and ring Lilly's mum back. After 3 rings she answers.

"Hello?"

"Hey, it's Katniss"

"Oh hello! Did Peeta give you the message?"

"Yep, that's fine. When will you be dropping them off?"

"Around 6pm?"

"Yep, fine with me"

"Thank you, your a life saviour"

"It's no bother"

"Thank you again, I'll see you in about half an hour then"

"Yep, bye!"

She hangs up. As I put the phone down I feel arms go around my waist and someone kissing my cheek and neck. It's Peeta of course.

"Peeta stop it. We're not even together" I say.

He brings his face out of the crook of my neck and turns me around so I'm looking at him. His hands leave my waist and hold my wrists. Luckily it's just before my first cuts so it doesn't touch them but he must feel the bandage because he keeps feeling up my arm until where it stops just before my elbow.

He goes to lift my sleeves up but I pull it into my hands so he can't. Great. He gives me a confused look.

"Katniss, are you hiding something?" He asks.

I shake my head.

"Then why won't you let me see your arms?"

"Because it's cold"

"Stop making excuses Katniss. Tell me, are you hiding something from me?"

I nod slowly and shakily. He goes to lift my sleeves up again when I release them from my hands but the doorbell rings. I quickly rush to the door as Peeta sighs.
