Chapter 25

-Peeta's POV-

I walk out of Katniss room, it then clocks me what I just did.

I hear her whimpering and I start to feel really bad. I don't know what went over that I did that to her. I feel disgusted in myself. I walk to my room and lie on my bed with my face in my pillow.

We all get called for dinner. I walk down an sit in my normal seat. Everyone else comes and takes a seat. Katniss' seat stays empty and my brothers don't look at me all through dinner. My parents on the other hand try to make constant conversation, I just answer in short words though.

After food I take my plate to the kitchen and go to bed for the night.

~two days later~

I wake up. I've slept for two whole days, I get out of bed and get dressed and decide I need to talk and apologise to Katniss about two days ago.

I walk out of my room and down the hall to Katniss' I open the door to be faced with a bare and empty room. All her stuff, gone.

I run downstairs and see my brothers sitting with my parents. As I burst through the door they all look at me.

"W-where did Katniss go? I need to speak to her" I say.

"She's left, didn't you know Peeta?" my mother asks.

Oh yeah, she's gone to her mothers. At least I may get to talk to her in school. "Uhh yeah, I just must have forgotten after sleeping for two days straight" I mumble. "I'd best go get my stuff for school"

"Oh Peet!" Rye calls.

"Yeah?" I as turning back around.

"We have to wear uniforms starting after half term next week"

"Ughh" I groan as I head upstairs.

I get my bag and jacket and put my phone in my bag as I walk downstairs and walk to school with Rye.

"I know what you did mind" he says.

"What?" I ask confused.

"Stop playing dumb, I know what you did"

"What did I do?!"

He rolls his eyes. "With Katniss?"

"Oh, that.." I mumble.

"Yeah, why would you do that? Especially to her! She's going through so much at the moment and you just go and do that to her, and may I add. Without her permission!"

"Yeah, I know. I was in the wrong. I don't know what came over me, I guess I just wanted her to see how much I loved her.."

"Doing that to her would make her think you just want to use her!"

"I wasn't thinking straight okay?!"

"Did you use protection? I asked Katniss"

"What did she say?"

"She doesn't know cause she didn't see it properly"

"Yeah, I did"

"Wait, how didn't she get to check you had protection on?"

"Uhh, well.." I trail off. "I kinda didn't give her a chance?" I answer questioningly.

"You are so stupid Peeta" he says shaking his head.

"You don't think I already know that?" I snap.

"Oh just go to your friends" He says flicking me off as we get to school.

I sigh and walk over to my friends who are sitting on the grass talking.

"I know, can you believe we have to wear uniform now?!" Jo groans.

"I know, stupid Mr. Snow" Cato says.

"Hey guys" I say as I sit down.

"Where were you yesterday?" they ask.

"Sleeping?" I answer.

They nod. "Where's Katniss?" Annie asks.

I shrug. "She's moved back with her mother"

"And I'm guessing you aren't dating anymore?" Cato asks.

"Uhh, you could say that, why?"

He points behind me where Katniss is walking in with a boy, who happens to be one of the boys in that group her wrecked her face.

She sees me looking and glares at me.

"She don't like you now does she? After we left the other day you were kissing and hugging each other" Thom says.

"Yeah, well a lot of things happen in a couple of days.." I say as I still watch her walk in, she's still walking awkwardly but no one comments on it. She must still be hurting from the other day..

"She's been doing fun and dirty things" Marvel chuckles.

"Hmm" I answer.

They all look at me as my phone dings, it happens to be Katniss' message tone which they all know.

From: Katniss

Will you stop fucking staring at me you fucking rapist!

I sigh and lock my phone as I throw it onto my bag, Madge picks it up and unlocks it. Fuck, she must know my password. She sees the message and looks to me.

"Peeta?"

"Hmm?" I answer

"What does she mean by this?" she asks pointing at my phone in her hand.

I shrug as I look down at the grass.

"You didn't, did you?" she asks. I know what she means.

I sigh, that's enough for her to know my answer.

"Peeta! That's horrible, you know how much she's going through at the moment and you go and do that?!" she screaches.

"I'm confused" the rest mumble.

I snatch my phone back and lock it before picking up my bag and walking off. But not before Cato pulls me back down.

"Explain"

I sigh. "What Marvel said was right and wrong, Katniss did get up to dirty stuff but she didn't have fun"

"How would you know?"

I don't answer and it finally clocks them.

"It was you!" They answer. I do a little nod.

"Well done Peet" Cato and Marvel say patting my back.

"I wasn't meant to though, I basically has sex with her but without her permission"

"So you basically raped her?" Annie asks.

I nod. "I don't know what was going through my mind, she was wimpering for me to stop but I just done it anyway.. If I could go back I wouldn't have done it at all.."
