Originally, he just wanted to hatch the dragons so that the risk of them being attacked by humans and demon beasts in the forest would be slightly reduced. But he had no plans for them right after due to him being quite tired. And currently, he had no skills that would be of use in this situation. Even if he did know [Reinforcement/Support magic], he was unable to use [Barrier magic], which was in the same type of magic, [Non-elemental magic]. So, he was left with no choice but to leave them without other protection apart from their own abilities.
Do not inconvenience yourself with such trivial matters.
The voices which he had heard from last night returned to give him reassurance once more. Now that Kazuki was well rested, he could easily notice the distinct characteristics of this pair of voices. They seemed young, younger than Kazuki's current age in this world. From his deductions, they had resemblance to a voice a 9 year old child. But even though the youth within the voice was easily picked out, there was still a sense of leadership as the owner brought out his/her voice. Almost as if just hearing the encouragement from that person would push you to succeed in doing something impossible.
We have already put up a barrier to protect these children, multiple to be specific. No need to stress yourself.
There was a tinge of amusement in the voice as it spoke, but not one single part of it sounded like it was to mock him.
"I...I see…" Kazuki replied in his mind. "But I have to ask…"
Kazuki then lowered his gaze to the five varying dragons sitting in front of him waiting for him to do something. They had so many similarities to the behaviors of cats and dogs that it made Kazuki think if dragons were related to cats and dogs genetically. But of course, that could never be the case.
"Why are these ones particularly drawn to me so much?"
Kazuki was of course, already aware of the reason for that to be the case. He only wishes to acquire a much more educated clarification.
These ones? Why that's because you were the one who hatched them. And due to the fact that specifically your mana was used for their successful hatch, they have some sort of connection to you. Something akin to a relation by blood.
Kazuki then knelt down, taking a closer look at the five, who seem to be doing the same and making themselves much more familiar to his face. He smiled, and they followed suit.
"Then…" Kazuki thought shortly to find the right words to say. "...are they bonded to me now? Just like a familiar of some sort?"
You could say so, but in order for them to be officially your familiars, you must create a pact with them. And it seems like you have yet to learn how to do so, so I shall tell you what it means to have a pact with a mana beast.
Mana beast… Kazuki thought only to himself. I've read about them before. They're complete opposites of demon beasts. They're nothing alike. Mana beasts are intelligent, while demon beasts are unintelligent and fierce. Well, that's the basics of it. I have yet to fully dive into their history and behaviors.
Kazuki momentarily planned another topic he needed to put time in researching, especially since it may give a bit more information on how to take "care" of them in the future.
Let me recollect… The voices then continued to speak to him. Ah, right. In order for you to create a pact with a mana beast, the two parties must give a part of themselves and that they consent in creating the connection. The most common in which is mana. You've already met your requirements, all that's left is for the five of them to do the same.
"I understand…" Kazuki thought for a minute. He felt as if he really wanted to have a pet dragon. Though he didn't fight the urge since he basically knew that the urge was likely stemming from his past memories, which he doesn't completely remember.
