As a slow rustle from the trees gradually increased, the team brought their eyes up to greet Armin and Jean, curious as to what they had discovered. Warm and focused smiles quickly turned to worried faces as their eyes darted from Armin to Jean, Armin to Jean, Armin to Jean. A horrified look on Armins face tried to steady itself as he spoke, "so we went- the bush was covered- there was one- she stopped the screaming and- back we came here now-".

He was interupted by Jean who seemed to be in a calmer state than the stuttering mess that was Armin. Eren had remembered from their orphanage days how constantly nervous Armin was, and it seemed that whatever he saw out there had drawn the fragile personality back. Eren felt his heart beat a littler harder as Jean spoke, "We- we left to look around and- and after a few minutes we stumbled upon this girl. She was screaming, her cries would bring chills to your spine. We were about to drop down to help her but- It was Marco, he jumped out from the bushes and just- he just tore her apart. I dont- I didnt know what he was doing when he dragged what was left of her out to a tree near the lake and we followed him there and he- he- Hes just been killing them all Levi, theres so many, I dont-", Jean was looking at his trembling hands as he formed them into fists, "I dont know I think theyre all dead maybe if we came a day earlier we could have-"

"Thats enough", said Levi with a cold tone, "everyone, gear up. Armin, you will stay here", Armin didnt debate with the decision, "Jean, I want you to come out with us, however, I will go out as first line, if anything becomes violent then Eren will support me. If it is needed, I want you to join in after as a third line. However, I will call for you, do not act of your own accord."

No one said anything as Levi put his blades in their sheaths. Eren stared blankly at Armin, who was now sitting curled up in the back of the van, occasionally shivering. A round of fear struck him. Armin used to be a fragile boy, but he had grown into a trained and strong man. For something to be able to scare him back into a boy, it must've been truely frightening.

Everyone stood around where Armin and Jean first entered the lake's forest, and with a hand signal from Levi, they disappeared into the branches of the forest. Jumping from branch to branch almost silently, besides the occasional harsh landing from Eren's inexperienced footing.

Some time passed and Eren saw Levi hold his hand out to the side after Jean gave him a nod. Behind him, Sasha has ceased following them, and had begun to climb into a denser area of the tree. They must be getting close. A few seconds later Jean had also stopped following, and his eyes followed Eren with pity as Eren leaped past him. Finally, Levi held his hand up, signalling for Eren and Hanji to also stop their travel. A mixed scent filled the air, one of a wet dog, mixed with the scent of decay, as well as fresh blood. Eren wished he was less familiar with the scent of fresh blood. He remembered how the orphanage constantly had to spend money on paying back the people who caught Eren tearing into their livestock or occasionally, pets such as chickens or rabbits. But he also faintly remembered the thrill of the chase, which was a feeling he did not wish to have.

A sharp, "calm yourself" came from his tiny Alpha, and he felt Hanji's hand touch his shoulder, "you alright buddy?"

Eren, confused suddenly realised the sharpness of his teeth in his mouth and the slight fog that was clouding his mind. He took a deep breath to collected himself, and his claws and fangs returned to their human state. This was not the time to be hung up on old memories and unwanted desires.

A crunch of leaves came from below, snapping everyone's attention downwards. Breaths paused as they observed a wolf with somewhat fresh scars scattered accross his left side. He was much closer than any of them were comfortable with, but no one dared move as they watched him sniff the air gently, before he continued forward. Eren noted the blood that matted the fur around the wolves paws and jaw, which gave him an uneasy feeling for what was about to come.

The three of them waited a few moments after the wolf below had passed for them to begin following. But as they slowly and silently moved to lower and lower branches, more and more of a gruesome scene began to reveal itself. At first, a small puddle of blood appeared on the ground, pooling into fallen leaves and sinking into the dirt. The puddles then became larger and more frequent until they began coming across fingers and arms, clumps of wet hair, unidentifiable chunks of flesh or organs, and it slowly became harder and harder for Eren to push away his disgusting feeling of excitement, which was also mixed with anger.

Not long passed before the wolf that Eren knew to be Marco had reached the edge of the lake, and to Erens surprise, he began turning back into a human state. After turning back, Marco then began to walk into the water. While this happened, Jean quickly caught up to the group, "you cant see it from up here since the trees and leaves block it. Jump down and you'll see what we saw, quickly, while hes gone, he'll be under there for about a minute or two". The team nodded, and Jean retreated back to where he was concealed, but not too far behind, so that he could still see the group and hear if Levi called on him.

Eren, Levi, and Hanji jumped down, and immediately their bodies froze at the sight before them. How far gone was Marco's mind? He was clearly no longer sane. There were so many bodies, there was so much blood, it was so planned out. Eleven children, no older than 12 or 13, all pinned against a tree with sharp branches plunging through their lifeless bodies. They were all pinned in a circle on a single wide tree. But there were also loose body parts that were tied into the hanging leaves of the swamp looking tree. A horrific sight. The bleeding limbs almost made it look like it was raining red.

A soft splashing began to come from the lake, and slowly a man was backing out, with yet another body in his arms. Eren couldnt control himself anymore, he had never felt so angry and disgusted in his life, and his excitement to finish his previous battle with Marco fuelled the flames that Eren felt through his whole body. He transformed in an instant, eyes red with rage. He no longer felt or saw anything else. He had forgotten all previous commands. This was it, Marco's games would be ended today.
