Instinct (Alpha Levi x Omega Eren)

An Enlightening Duel

Levi explained the plan of attack to capture Marco. Eren was ecstatic, this was his first real mission. "Earlier today a market stall owner overheard a man who matched Marco's description mumbling to himself about going to a lake for the last time," Levi said, meeting Eren's line of sight for a split second.

"Armin, you'll go in first with Jean. Try to reason with Marco first. Sasha and Hanji will hang back and out of sight, and Eren, you and I will be following up Armin and Jean. You have to be ready at all times for when things get out of control for them, we jump in to take down the attacker with minimal harm"

Eren quickly glanced up at Levi, "Minimal harm? You expect me to show this dude mercy after he- uh, after he looked so... similar.. to me" A bead of sweat ran down Eren's back as he tried to cover up his previous encounter with Marco.

A few strange glances swept the room and the subject was changed by Hanji. "Ya'll ready to gear up?" A few nods were shared and the group began making their way to the equipment room. They all got into the elevator and someone hit the button to the basement floor.

Eren could feel the excited nervousness buzzing around the room. Ding. The elevator doors opened and revealed an enormous and spacious room. Shelves that reached from floor to ceiling were placed around the room, but left enough space for weapon testing and practice. The team split up and immediately began heading off to various parts of the room. Eren was left standing in front of the elevator, staring in amazement.

He felt a hand rest on his shoulder, "lets find you your gear," said Levi. Eren followed obediently as Levi lead him through the isles of weapons, protective gear, and uniforms. Each item seemed to have it's own personality. Eren observed the team as he followed Levi. Sasha was grabbing her medical bag and placing daggers into her leg strap sheath and side pockets. Armin had begun taking off his clothes to replace them with bullet proof underclothes and a camouflage outfit over top.

"First you'll need a weapon that suits your style. originally I thought you'd be able to simply transform and use your wolf form as your weapon, however, we do not have an effective way to help you transform back, so i believe a weapon could pair well with your ability to dodge and talents in accuracy."

"I thought the way we were using was pretty effective"

*Thwap*

"Ow"

"Pick a weapon that compliments your abilities and make sure it isn't too heavy for you," Levi gestured to the smaller sized weapons, excluding the guns, "Try out some of these, I personally believe the daggers and smaller knives would suit you best, I advise against guns, considering your temper, melee weapons would give me enough time to intercept any unacceptable actions".

Eren threw a quick look of annoyance and Levi responded with an unchanged expression. He looked at all the weapons displayed in front of him and grabbed a dagger that appeared cool to him; it was light weight and the blade was about as long as his hand. "How about this?" He turned to look at Levi who had now disappeared from where he last stood. Eren looked around the room and spotted Levi packing a heavy duty sport bag with various extra weapons, uniforms, and other equipment such as rope, ammunition, and handcuffs for after they've detained Marco.

Eren called out to him, "is this good?" But before Levi could respond, a friendly voice called out from across the room, "Try it out and we'll see". Armin was standing in a more open part of the room. His calm, soft voice that complimented the cute, shy boy at the orphanage no longer matched Armin. Before Eren now stood a tall, muscular man. The tight clothing that allowed him to move silently accentuated his slim but disciplined body. He no longer stood hunched over, arms by his side, timid. He now stood powerfully, intimidating, but nimble.

Eren felt the corner of his mouth curl up from the thoughts of both nostalgia and competitiveness. He walked over to where his old friend stood. Armin was holding a short, wooden sword, about the size of his forearm, and Eren threw a confused look, gesturing to Armin's weapon. Armin smiled cheerfully at his friend, "It's okay, I just have a theory I want to test. Don't hesitate for me, hit to kill". Eren was left curious, but confident.

Eren made the first move, by taking his dagger and making an attempt to slash down Armin's chest. Armin grabbed his wooden sword with one hand on either end, and used it as a staff to hold between Eren's arm and his chest. He pushed Eren back with the sword and kicked Eren behind the knees. Eren fell to the ground and Armin held his sword to Eren's neck, ending the fight. It ended as fast as it began.

Eren remained sprawled across the floor, questioning why his instincts didn't work when Armin went to kick him.

"Just as I thought," said Armin, a smile across his face.

"How did you do that? What did you do to me?" Eren shook his head. The rest of the team had stopped their preparation's and were now looking at Armin and Eren.

"Captain Levi told us that your ability allows you to easily dodge any attacks on you, but this isn't the case" explained Armin.

"What?"

"You see, I heard about how Captain Levi took you down when you attacked him during your first encounter and it got me thinking, why didn't you dodge him? So this was my little experiment. Even though I attacked you, you didn't react like you usually would. I think this is because your trigger isn't when someone attacks you, but rather, when someone attacks you with the purpose of injuring you."

"What? You literally just threw me down to the floor, my back is killing me!"

"Yes, however, my intentions were not to injure you, but to disarm and corner you. Get it?" Armin offered Eren a hand to get up.

"I guess so, but that doesn't matter much, our job is to hunt down evil people," Eren took Armin's arm and dusted himself off.

"I think it's good to know your weaknesses, Eren. And now that the team knows as well, I'm sure it will benefit us to know. Just, keep it in mind when you're fighting".

Its me again! Did you miss me? I Love writing these for you guys so much but seems like i only have time during the holidays. Mine have only just started so there will be a few more chapter releases before i stop again.
