17.

There was a pause on the phone. "I see you've met Janine, she just unexpectedly came to my house this morning." Sebastian said. It was like he was evading my question. "Is she your cousin?" I asked, though I didn't see a resemblance to them and I doubted they were. "no." he said. I was getting a bit irritated. He was being evasive. "then?" I asked. I've never been annoyed by Sebastian, but we were in an early stage relationship. "she was an ex girlfriend." he said. I knew it. It bothered me that she was drop dead gorgeous and I was some child, but everyone has a past. "oh okay. She seems nice." I lied, even though she was a bit bitchy to me. "oh yea, hey why don't we talk in person. I'm at the store. Meet me at the school, under the oak tree in fifteen minutes?" he asked. "sure. See you then." I said and we hung up.

As I drove, my mind was going on a frenzy. Janine was his ex and there could be a possibility she wanted him back or vise versa. Where would that leave me if they got back together? It was obvious I'd be forgotten, just some girl to pass the time. I didn't even know why I was worrying so much, I mean there was a reason she was an ex. But what if she dumped him? I sighed. So many questions that would be unanswered.

I reached the school and headed towards the tree. Sebastian wasn't there yet so I sat down. I stared at the grass.

"hey babe." I looked up to see Sebastian. He smiled and I returned the smile. He sat next to me and gave me a kiss. "how was your trip?" he asked. "it was good, relaxing. Yours?" I said. I wasn't really in the mood for small talk. I felt so unsure at the moment. I didn't even know why I was feeling this way. Was it the jealousy. I had a right to be jealous. Sebastian was talking but I wasn't listening. I was in my own world.

"hello?" he said, disrupting my thoughts. "huh? What?" I said. I felt bad for not listening. "I said are you alright?" he said. His eyebrows were furrowed with concern. "oh yea. Just jet lagged." I lied. I was just worrying for nothing. "oh you wanna go rest?" he said taking my hand. "no I want to spend time with you. I've missed you." I said. I really did miss him. I've decided to let the thought of Janine go. I shouldn't be worrying.

"are you sure?" he said. I sighed. "yes. So what do you want to do?" I asked. I plucked grass with my free hand. "I'm not sure. How bout we go to dinner?" he said. It was 5:30 and i was getting hungry. "sure. Where?" I asked. "oh shoot I remembered that I bought groceries because I was gonna cook tonight. How bout dinner at my house?" he smiled. Janine's face appeared in my head. I didn't want to go but I felt like i was being rude. "sounds good." I said and gave a smile. Sebastian stood and pulled me up. He then pulled me closer to him and kissed me. I then began to relax.

We arrived at sebastian's house. He held my hand and led me to the kitchen. The house was quiet. I sat at the island as Sebastian began to bring out ingredients. He let me chop veggies while he did the beef. He was making stir fry.

"that is horrible slicing" he teased. "I think they're awesome."I said. I ate a carrot slice. "hey now. Don't eat it all." he smiled. "I had one only." I smiled too.

I finished the veggies and Sebastian began to cook. It cooked pretty quick. It smelt wonderful. Sebastian turned off the stove and walked towards me. I didn't move. He was on my side and turned the bar stool so that I was facing him.

"I've missed you." he whispered and held my face in his palm. I smiled. He was inches away from me. "I've missed you too." I said. He leaned in closer and held my face. He kissed me as if he hadn't seen me in years.

"sorry to interrupt, but I smelt food so I came down." I pulled away and saw Janine in a tight, black tube dress that was mid thigh. She had makeup on and her hair was wavy. She looked like a model out of a magazine. I wonder where she was going dressed like that. "oh yea. Foods ready." Sebastian said. He was looking me in the eyes, smiling. I smiled back at him. I already forgot about Janine. Sebastian's smile was tantalizing. I could hear her heels clicking against the tile. I assumed she was grabbing food, but I didn't care. Sebastian took my hand and I hopped off the stool. He lead me to the living room and we sat at the couch. He wrapped his arm around me.

"where were we after we were rudely interrupted?"Sebastian asked. "before we kiss, why is she here?" I asked politely. "oh she needed a place to crash for some meeting here. She's only here till tomorrow." Sebastian said. "oh okay." I said and Sebastian kissed me like he had in the kitchen. He really did miss me.

Janine's pov

Sebastian had been gone all day so I went to the mall. I came back late because there was traffic. The mall was lame, the usual guys gawking at me like I was some piece of meat and they were the starving wolves. There was only one guy's attention I wanted. I didn't have a meeting. I lied. I came to win back Sebastian. He was the one that dumped me so many years ago. For what reason? I don't know. But I intend to win him back. I had been dating but Sebastian kept coming to mind. We'd only dated for several months and he dumped me like nothing. Yes I felt hurt, devastated. I hadn't even completely gotten over him.

I sighed. I finally reached his house smelt something good cooking. I smiled. He cooked dinner. I walked in the kitchen, excited. It quickly went away when I saw him passionately kissing a girl. My blood pressure rose. He had a girlfriend?! I couldn't take it, I had to see the wench. "sorry to interrupt. But I smelt food and came down ." I lied. The girl pulled away. And I saw that it was the girl from before. She looked at me and smiled. I fake smiled and she looked at Sebastian who didn't even look at me. He was gazing at the girl. "oh yea. Foods ready." was all he said. I felt angry and went to make food as he pulled the girl away. I wanted to scream. I wasted my time coming here. He had a girlfriend.

I sat at the island alone, picking at my food. At that moment I had a crazy idea. Maybe it wasn't a waste of time to come here. I smirked.

Jayla's pov.

Sebastian brought me back to my dorm. He sat on the floor, leaning on my bed. I laid on my stomach on my bed. I played with his hair. It was soft. He had a Rubix cube in his hand. He solved the thing quickly. He was twirling it in his hand.

"what are you thinking?" I asked him. He was awfully quiet. "just don't want to go home cause it doesn't feel like home with Janine there." he said. I felt sad and angry for her barging in his home. "that's too bad. You could spend the night here. I said. There was the extra bed. Not that I wasn't uncomfortable sharing a bed. He looked up and smiled at me. "really?" he said. I nodded. "but no funny business okay." I laughed. "okay. Let's go to my house so I can get some clothes and necessities" he said and stood up. I rolled on my back. I was so comfy. "do I have to come or can I wait here?" I said. "I want you to come with me please?" he frowned. I sighed and smiled. "okay fine. Carry me?" I smiled. "okay fine.." he said and knelt down. I sat up and climbed on his back. "you are such a push over." I laughed as he walked us to his car. "anything to make you happy." he said. I smiled and kissed his cheek.

We arrived at his home and it was quiet. He passed through the living room and there on the couch was Janine reading a magazine, only wearing a towel wrapped around her body. Her hair was in a messy bun. Sebastian didn't look at her. She looked up and she looked mad but she quickly changed her facial expression. "hey you guys are back" she said. She closed the magazine and stood up. The towel was short. "yea sebastian needs clothes." I smiled. Something didn't seem right with her. "oh cool." she said but we were already at the top of the stairs. I think I imagined it but I heard Janine groan in frustration. I smiled.

Sebastian changed his clothes into a white shirt and black shorts and he had a small gym bag with outing clothes and his other necessities. He locked all the room doors and we left. Janine was no where in sight.

We were back at the dorm. Sebastian and I laid in bed together. He had his arm around me. I was wearing a big shirt and shorts. I felt comfortable in his arms. It was silent. I looked up and Sebastian was asleep. He looked peaceful. Come to think of it, I've never watched him sleep. His breathing was even and his face relaxed. He looked younger. I just smiled and tried to not wake him. I had to turn off the lights. I successfully got off the bed without waking him. I used the bathroom and went out to my bed and saw Sebastian sprawled in the middle of my bed. I smiled. I put a blanket on him and made the other bed. I then fell asleep.
