APHMAU'S POV

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Aaron worried, depositing another four books on the table next to his fiance.

"I don't have much of a choice, now do I?" Aphmau quipped, skimming through yet another page of useless information.

"They might not help you."

"Lizzie will, at the very least. I mean, I'm her sister. Kind of."

"Yes, but Lizzie is a bit of a... loose cannon. A wild card. You don't know what she will do. You don't know much about her."

"Well, that's the point of this."

"Old history books? I mean, I know she is both ancient and infamous, but isn't that hoping for too much?" Aaron reasoned.

"Aaron, please, I want to do this. I have to do this. You aren't going to get anywhere trying to talk me out of it." Aphmau told him determinedly.

Aaron stared at her for a few long moments before sighing.

"I suppose not. Do you want some coffee?"

"Yes please!" Aphmau beamed.

Aaron smiled at her affectionately as he got up and moved to the kitchen. Aphmau watched him for a moment before turning back to her current book. It was about divine, and all the 'myths' about them.

Perhaps one of the less well known legends about Lady Lizbeth are the ones about her children, as those myths are the most contested. Given that the lady is supposed to appear as in her early teens, many shy away from the thought of her ever having children, but there are a few fables about such events. In every case the father remains unknown, but there are four total that have ever been mentioned. The oldest is Ignatius, followed by Nixie, Dion and Alya in no particular order. They are said to represent the four pillars of life, Ignis, Aqua, Terra and Caeli, better known as Fire, Water, Earth and Air.

The four are fabled to have had incredible power, suggesting their parents were both divine beings, as other divines who bred with humans produced offspring that were considered lesser beings. Even Lady Lizbeth herself is rumored to have had mortal children, although these rumors are even more speculative than the myths of her immortal children.

"Did you find something?" Aaron asked, gently setting down a steaming cup of coffee.

"Nothing I could use to find her. Although it was interesting to read."

"What is it?"

"It's about her children."

"Children? She looks no older than sixteen or seventeen. I mean, I know she's immortal, but it's hard to wrap your head around."

"It is."

"What does it say about them?"

"Only rumors really. About four immortal children that were supposed to represent the four 'pillars of life', and then some more uncertain rumors about some mortal offspring."

Aaron scanned the page she had been reading, nodding.

"Do you think it's true?"

"Maybe." Aphmau shrugged.

"If it is, then it's a story with a sad ending." Aaron commented.

"What do you mean?" Aphmau frowned.

"Did she ever mention any other divine?"

"Well... no."

"And here, it says that they were supposed to be 'immortal'. Maybe they weren't as immortal as they were supposed to be."

"Oh." Aphmau reread the page with a sombre expression.

The pair sat in silence for a minute or so before Aaron excused himself and let Aphmau return to her work. It was hours later, around midnight, when he was awoken by joyful cries of:

"Eureka! I've got it! I found it!"
