APHMAU'S POV
This wasn't where Aphmau had thought she'd be at this point in her life. It was too surreal, to be surrounded by witches and divine and ghosts - they were more solid than ghosts, although there were several instances in which they would flicker, or simply pass through things.
They also couldn't eat or drink anything, which made the fact that her, Lizzie, the twins and Hyria were all sitting around the living room having lunch, kind of awkward, as they just had to sit there.
None of them seemed to mind, however. They just seemed ecstatic to be back. They were laughing and talking about events she couldn't remember.
But that couldn't last.
All too soon, the topic of conversation turned to Travis and the Demon Warlock.
"What's the game plan?" Jasper asked.
The question was directed towards Lizzie, who took a moment or two before answering.
"We need to head to Enki Island and find the entrance to the Demon Warlock's old realm."
"We're giving him a realm?" Aphmau frowned.
"We have to put him somewhere." Lizzie replied.
"But a realm?"
"It held him for centuries, it can do it again. We just have to make sure it stays sealed this time around." Lizzie assured her.
"What happened last time?"
"Long story." Alina muttered.
"So, where's Enki Island?" Aphmau asked.
"Well, it's in the ocean." Jasper began.
Willow elbowed his side.
"Don't worry about. It's the beauty of teleportation." Willow said instead.
Aphmau nodded.
"You should be heading off shortly." Hyria told them, "He's stronger at night, and it's the afternoon already."
There were several grumbles from the group as they stood, as no one really wanted to leave the safety and warmth of the cottage to fight a powerful demon, but they didn't really have a choice.
"Good luck, you'll need it." Hyria said gravely, "And Lizzie-"
"Yeah, yeah, I know. I'll be careful."
"Good."
"We'll see you again, right?" Alina asked as she hugged the old witch goodbye.
"I certainly hope so, my dear." She smiled, hugging Lilith goodbye as well.
Then she stepped back, allowing the eight of them to form a circle. Aphmau was holding Lizzie's hand on one side, and Alina's on the other.
She heard Lizzie and the twins mutter the words she knew oh-so-well by now, and moments later she felt the familiar feeling of the world dropping from beneath her feet.
They appeared in the middle of a snowy forest.
"This doesn't look like an island." Levin commented as they stepped away from each other.
"That's because we're in the middle of it." Malachi pointed out.
"I know that. I'm not stupid."
Aphmau smiled at their banter. The bond between the brothers was clear, and it was far too adorable for her to handle. Alina caught her attention seconds later. The girl's eyes were tracking something that Aphmau couldn't see.
"Follow it." Lizzie encouraged her before Aphmau could ask what was going on.
Alina did, setting off at a fast pace through the forest. Everyone else scrambled to keep up with her as she wound her way though a maze of trees and rocks, like a dog following an interesting scent.
"What's she doing?" Aphmau asked Lilith quietly.
"When were young, Alina had this kind of... interaction with the Demon Warlock's realm. She has a connection to it, and it pulls her in. It's probably because of her relic."
"But she's dead." Aphmau said without thinking, "Wait, sorry, I didn't-"
"No, it's fine." Lilith reassured her, "As far as I can tell, since she died with the relic, some of its power is still ingrained within her. And even without it, she's the child of Irene and a descendant of Shad. She's powerful."
"Yeah, I knew that much." Aphmau murmured.
All of a sudden Alina stopped. They were in a sort of gorge, with rock walls on each side. They all drew to a stop beside her, waiting for her to say something.
"This is it." She said at last, studying their surroundings, "This is the entrance."
