APHMAU'S POV

Aphmau was itching to do the spell, to reunite a family and hopefully learn more about herself in the process, but Lizzie was making them wait. She was pretty sure that they were waiting for Willow and Jasper, but she had been cagey about it.

"I'm bored." Aphmau declared dramatically, flopping back on the couch.

"We've been waiting for like a minute." Lizzie pointed out dryly.

"Why are we waiting?" Aphmau asked again.

She wasn't expecting an answer, but she got one - just not from Lizzie.

"For us." Jasper replied, stepping into the room with a triumphant smirk on his face.

Willow followed closely behind him, clutching a bag at her side and smiling far more genuinely than her brother.

"Finally." Lizzie said, standing up.

"Hey, you're the one giving us orders." Jasper countered.

"Thank you for saying that aloud."

"Saying what?"

"That I'm in charge."

"You're not in charge!"

"Aren't I?"

"I thought she was." Aphmau interjected, impatient to get started.

"See?"

Jasper simply rolled his eyes in response.

"What are we waiting for?" Aphmau asked, yet again, now practically bouncing up and down.

"Nothing." Lizzie answered, leading the way out of the room.

Aphmau followed eagerly at her heels, with Willow and Jasper right behind her.

"Not what I meant when I said 'talk to her'." Willow muttered under her breath.

"I know that." Jasper replied quietly.

Aphmau let herself wonder briefly what on earth they were talking about, but let it slide. She had better things to wonder about.

However, there wasn't much for her to do. She could only stand by and watch as Lizzie set things up, the twins assisting her. She set out each set of items in a square. Lilith's sword and dragon scale in the top left, Malachi's brick and jewel beneath that, Alina's bracelet beside Lilith's, and Levin's bag of dirt beside Malachi's.

Then, the divine drew out a knife from who knows where and beckoned Aphmau over. She obeyed immediately, only slightly apprehensive about trusting Lizzie with a knife.

Luckily, Lizzie just sliced her palm open with one swift movement, letting blood drip down onto Alina's bracelet until it and the area around it was coated in the red liquid. Aphmau went to draw back her hand, but Lizzie caught her wrist before she could. Her mind panicked for a moment once she realised Lizzie was muttering under her breath, but she relaxed when her cut began to heal over.

She retreated back to the stairs once it was done, watching as Lizzie repeated the process with herself. Only then did Willow and Jasper rejoin her, forming a small triangle around the items. Aphmau was half tempted to run back inside, as Lizzie had warned her that since they were 'violating the natural balance' the spell would have some violent effects on the surrounding area, but she decided to stay - for the moment, at least.

At first it seemed as if nothing was happening. Lizzie, Jasper, and Willow were chanting something in time, words in another language that seemed eerily familiar to Aphmau, but she couldn't quite place it.

Then the wind began to pick up, howling through the trees and swirling around them in a blistering tornado. The sky darkened dramatically, clouds forming from nothing, and thunder and lightning flashing through the sky dangerously close to them.

Finally, the ground began to shake. It was subtle at first, but then it spiked. Aphmau clung onto the railing for dear life, praying that this wouldn't all go horribly wrong. Her mind drifted to Aaron, to her friends, and what would happen if she died here. Cold terror flooded her, consuming her thoughts so that she didn't even realise that the shaking had stopped and the sky had returned to normal until sunlight was once again shining onto her.

Her eyes flickered open, staring at the epicentre of it all.

Where three people had once stood, there were now seven.
