GACH ENDINGS AN BHFUIL BEGINNINGS

CHAPTER 29

"All Endings are Beginnings."

"Either your explosives are making them rethink their plan of attack or they're turning back to fight the teams inside." intoned Clara over the din of the last explosion.

"What, you don't think there just aren't that many of them left?" one of the privates asked quizzically.

"In my experience we're not that lucky son." she sighed.

"Well aren't you just a ball of sunshine." Gudahi groaned.

"That reminds me, weren't you about to do something a few minutes ago?" she demanded.

"Uhhh, Can't say I know what you're talking about." he lied.

"I'm pretty sure you were about to give in and kiss me again." she smiled as she scanned for more enemies.

"No Idea what you're talking about. Maybe you took one to the head when we weren't paying attention. Are you hurt?" he said, trying to change the subject.

She slid her last magazine into place in the well of her rifle. "I guess I'll just have to deal with that after this then." Placing a round between the eyes of an Encantado peeking its head out.

...

The Barghest didn't blow apart like he had expected. Instead it had only caused several spots on the body to give way to the tremendous forces trying to escape. The carcass could still be identified, but was clearly dead from the fluids leaking out of several new holes.

"That was dramatic." Ash said, brushing off a chunk of Barghest from her shoulder.

"He was the one who killed my parents. That was me holding back." sighed Beathen.

Ruaraidh breathed, "Gotta agree with the lass. That was a bit..."

"Graphic!" interrupted Miss. Wakahisa as she flicked her wrist, sending Ash and Neith flying through the air. "I think the word you were looking for was graphic."

Ruaraidh let out a guttural scream and leapt for the new threat. She swiftly brought her other hand from behind her back and fired two rounds from a Nambu style pistol that had so many charms it gave of a small glow. On contact with his body Ruaraidh stopped in midair from the force of the charmed rounds. He began convulsing as the charms sent a constant stream of excruciating pain to every nerve ending in his body. Trying to force his way past the agony, Ruaraidh gripped his rifle. Using all his strength to move the barrel toward her to end this once and for all. Only his body couldn't follow his will and only abided the strength command, snapping the M4 carbine rifle in half.

Beathen ducked behind the storage crate that had held the key stone before the ceremony. He activated every charm he had left, pumping energy into every tattoo on his body. He quickly rolled out from behind the crate, scanning the room to fire at the latest enemy. Only to find her missing from his field of vision. Neith was partially buried in the far wall with Ash crumpled on the floor in front of her. Ruaraidh was writhing on the floor from the cursed bullets in his body. Wakahisa was nowhere to be found. Not the floor, the walls....

"FUCK!" He launched himself across the floor with his legs and rolled onto his back as he realized she was on the ceiling. Before he could sight her with his weapon she was on the floor and across the room in the blink of an eye. Even with all his charms activated she was faster than he could have been at a flat out run. Knocking the pistol away with one hand, she used her wakizashi to deftly cut the wrist holding the axe causing him to lose the strength to hold it. With a satisfied smirk she brought her blade to his throat.
