Pep rallies.
Pep rallies were definitely something that Jungkook despised. I mean, who needs to spend a full hour playing stupid games and cheering on the football team?
But there Jungkook was, flinching as Yeri attempted to put eyeshadow on him in an unused hallway beside the gym.
"Kookie, I swear if you move one more time I'm going to shove my concealer brush up your ass," she threatened. Jungkook stopped moving.
"Yeri, I'm supposed to be in calc right now," Jungkook murmured. He hadn't truly skipped class until now, and it was starting to get to him.
"You'll be fine. Just tell Mr. Dae that you had to leave a little early to help set up for the pep rally," she said, rummaging through her bag and applying more mascara to Jungkook's eyes.
"Okay," she said. Jungkook could hear her shuffle back a bit and he tentatively opened his eyes. Yeri handed him a mirror and he gasped.
He had finally gotten rid of the glasses, but that didn't change the fact that Yeri's makeup looked amazing. There was a bit of color around Jungkook's eyes. He had on a bit of lipstick too, and Yeri had managed to cover up the little zit that was forming on Jungkook's cheek. It wasn't much, but it made him look really hot.
"W-Wow, thanks, Yeri," Jungkook mumbled, setting down the mirror and smiling at her. Yeri smiled back and leaned against the wall, beside Jungkook.
"And now we wait," she said, glancing at the clock on the wall. They still had a good ten minutes before the pep rally started. "I'm telling you, Kookie, you should've worn the skirt. Taehyung probably would've been all over you-"
"Yeri!" Jungkook interrupted, his face flushing beneath the layer of makeup. She giggled when he hit her with his pompoms. "I don't think I would've been comfortable," he mumbled, staring down at his blue pants, "Plus, Mrs. Nam probably would've had a heart attack."
Yeri rolled her eyes, "If I get Mrs. Nam to approve of it will you do it then?" Jungkook sighed, "Why do you want me to be in a skirt?"
"So you can get with Taehyung," she said, though it sounded more like a question. Jungkook pulled his lips together into a line.
"And why are you so concerned with me getting with Taehyung?"
Yeri stopped. Her gaze softened and lowered to the ground and she leaned against Jungkook. "Because... I'm glad that you can... be yourself in a place like this," she sighed, "You're not afraid of your sexuality."
Jungkook looked down at her and ruffled her hair. Yeri yelped and kicked him away, earning a pompom to the face. "You didn't have to get so emotional," he giggled.
Yeri only smiled.

Jungkook's belief that pep rallies were useless still stood.
But that didn't mean they couldn't be fun.
He watched from beside Yeri and Hyuna as half of the football team (covered in inside-out duct tape) tried to pick up playing cards off of the floor. His eyes were trained to Taehyung, specifically, who looked like he was having an existential crisis in a pile of playing cards.
He giggled when the timer ran out and Taehyung only had two cards stuck to his back. Suho ran up to him and said something, causing Taehyung to roll his eyes and elbow Suho... which got the two of them stuck together.
"Go help them out," Yeri said, pushing Jungkook towards the two. Confusion settled over Jungkook's face, but when he saw that other cheerleaders were doing the same, he didn't question it.
He grabbed a pair of scissors and walked up to Taehyung. Taehyung was arguing with Suho, but still had a smile on his face. A smile that made Jungkook's heart skip a beat.
"Hey, Kookie!" Suho called, wobbling over to Jungkook. Taehyung rolled his eyes but followed him... since they were stuck together.
"Get me out first, pretty," Suho rasped. Jungkook's eyebrows furrowed together, but he cut the duct tape off of Suho anyways. "I like the makeup," Suho added, wrapping a hand around Jungkook's waist.
"Haha, r-really?" Jungkook asked, awkwardly stepping out of Suho's grip. Suho furrowed his eyebrows together but didn't say anything. He chose to stand uncomfortably close to Jungkook as he cut Taehyung out of the duct tape.
If not for the makeup, Jungkook's face probably would've been bright red. Taehyung didn't seem bothered, however, and joked with the friends who were gathering around them. They had slowly migrated into a corner of the gym so that everyone could continue the games.
As soon as Jungkook got all of the tape off of Taehyung, a cheerleader ran up to him. A cheerleader that was none other than Hyuna herself. What did she need from Taehyung, Jungkook wondered.
"Hey, Tae!" she said, latching onto Taehyung's arm. Taehyung only gave her a look, but didn't shake her off. "Are you coming over again tonight?"
What?
A series of whistles came from the football team and Taehyung rolled his eyes. "Knock it off, guys," Taehyung chided, sliding out of Hyuna's grip. "Taehyung's gettin' laid tonight!" someone called out.
Jungkook let out a sad laugh and got a pat on the back from Yeri. Yeri frowned up at him sadly. "Sorry."
"I-It's fine," Jungkook mumbled, crossing his arms in front of his body. He glanced at Hyuna and smiled when they accidentally made eye contact. He couldn't help but think that she was doing all of this on purpose.
"Shut up," Taehyung said when the football team kept whistling. He rolled his eyes and elbowed Kai and Beomgyu, and turned around.
His eyes went directly to Jungkook's.
Taehyung's lips pulled into a thin line and a strange look passed over his face. Jungkook's lips only pulled into a sad smile.
Asshole.
