Jeon Jungkook was dating Kim Taehyung.
Holy shit.
It was now a grand total of two days and sixteen hours since they had started dating and Jungkook was still in utter s h o c k.
Jungkook rushed down the hallway towards Taehyung's locker, hoping that he had made it to school before Taehyung. He wanted to surprise him at his locker. That's what boyfriends did, right?
Jungkook smiled at some of the people he recognized as he hurried, but furrowed his eyebrows together when they didn't respond. Some of them looked away or avoided eye contact at all.
That made Jungkook realize that everyone was kind of avoiding him. It was strange. It wasn't like he did anything, did he?
He brushed it off and put on a tight lipped smile when he saw Hyuna. Jungkook couldn't ignore the awkward tension between the two of them and conjured what to say to her in his head...
But he didn't have to. The moment he got closer to her she brushed his shoulder and continued walking. Hyuna didn't even bother to bat a fake eyelash in his direction and stayed invested in her conversation with Yugyeom.
Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows together and had to stop himself from pausing in the middle of the hallway. That was weird, he thought. But Hyuna was... mad at him for some reason. Maybe he couldn't really blame her.
He glanced at the clock on the wall and stopped by his locker quickly, making sure that he'd still have time to see Taehyung. Jungkook opened his locker and felt more confusion wash over him when a note fell from the locker.
Break up with Taehyung
Jungkook stared at the note now on the floor. The four words were sprawled in messy handwriting, making it difficult for Jungkook to tie it to a certain person.
He felt his heart drop a little. Did people really want him to break up with Taehyung? They had only been dating for two days, what did he do wrong?
That was it. He didn't do anything wrong. So he shouldn't worry himself over something he hadn't even done.
Unless he did something without realizing it... No, positive thoughts, he told himself.
He shook his head to clear his mind and grabbed his textbooks from his locker, slamming the door shut and running off. Leaving the note on the ground behind him.
Jungkook glanced at the clock again and let out a sigh of relief as he neared Taehyung's locker. He glanced in a window and fixed his hair a little and checked his teeth.
Perfect, he smiled to himself.
He took in a deep breath and turned the corner to where Taehyung's locker was. And then he froze.
What was Hyuna doing by Taehyung?
She was practically all over him, and Jungkook felt his heart twist at the way she rubbed her chest against his arm. Hyuna twirled her hair and ran her acrylic nails against Taehyung's skin.
Jungkook shuddered. He only hoped that Taehyung wasn't enjoying whatever Hyuna was doing to him.
"H-Hey, Hyung!" Jungkook piped, hugging his books to his chest and entering Taehyung's line of sight. The moment Taehyung's eyes landed on him, his bored expression disappeared and his entire face lit up.
Take that, Hyuna.
"Hey, Kookie!" Taehyung beamed, pushing a thirsting Hyuna off of him and walking towards his boyfriend. Jungkook giggled and felt his heart met a little at the sunshine coming from Taehyung.
It was nice finally getting to know Taehyung. It was nice knowing that he wasn't the cold, mean person Jungkook thought he was throughout his first three years of high school.
Jungkook enjoyed the bubbles that swirled around Taehyung when he was with him. He was glad that the cold mask finally melted.
"Good morning," Jungkook mumbled, feeling shy when Taehyung pushed back a stray strand of hair and tucked it behind his ear. Taehyung smiled, hearts practically oozing from his eyes. Jungkook didn't know that Taehyung could show endearment.
"Good morning," Taehyung replied, staring at Jungkook intensely. Jungkook would've felt a little self conscious, but he had gotten used to this. Taehyung wasn't really good at expressing his emotions.
Jungkook glanced over Taehyung's shoulder to see Hyuna sulking by Taehyung's locker. She picked at her invisible nail dirt and kept her arms crossed over her chest, shooting daggers at her acrylics.
Jungkook smirked when Hyuna made eye contact with him. Hyuna furrowed her eyebrows together but her jaw dropped when she saw Jungkook kiss Taehyung.
Taehyung startled a little against Jungkook's lips but eventually closed his eyes, softly placing a hand on Jungkook's hips. Jungkook opened one eye and stared at Hyuna, smirking against Taehyung's lips when he saw her flipping the two of them off and walking away.
Taehyung pulled away with furrowed eyebrows and gave Jungkook a strange look, but didn't say anything. Jungkook only smiled up at him, the angelic smile that Taehyung had grown to like so much over the past few days. And then Taehyung's anxieties were washed away.
"What was that about?" Taehyung teased, nudging Jungkook lightly. Jungkook giggled and shook his head, beginning to walk towards his first period, feet falling in time with Taehyung.
Taehyung stared at Jungkook, feeling a light pang in his chest. Something felt a little off about their relationship, but Taehyung couldn't tell what it was.
Jungkook just didn't really seem like himself.
