AP Exams.
AP Exams were something Jungkook had dreaded each year of his "high school career". It reminded him of the end of the year and not seeing his friends every day.
Freshman year, he didn't have many exams. But they were still scary because they were the first. He was able to see all of his friends after that, and his friend circle had grown since the start of high school... along with his crush on Taehyung.
Sophomore year was just awkward because sophomore year. He had gotten used to the schedule of everything, but there was still an awkwardness that loved to swarm around sophomores.
Junior year was more stressful. He felt the pressure to impress everyone around him and studied hard. College was something that had begun to creep faster and faster out of the shadows, and Jungkook wasn't 100% ready to face the thought of leaving everything behind.
But this time it reminded him of the end of everything.
His time in high school was finally coming to a close. His friends would go off to college and so would he. He would have completely new surroundings and new people to meet.
There wouldn't be the normal routine of seeing his friends or Taehyung every day. Sure, they could do video calls and meet up in person every now and then, but he knew it wouldn't be the same for him. There would still be a void left in his heart.
A void that sadly yearned for the lost days and simplicity of high school.
"Are you excited for college?" Taehyung asked, looking at Jungkook. He had his head laid down on his arm on the cafeteria table, looking up at Jungkook and ignoring the noise coming from the rest of their little group.
Jungkook bit his lip, feeling his heart twist. "I'm excited." He looked at Taehyung and then all of his friends. "I'm excited," he mumbled again, though it sounded less confident than the first time he said it.
"What's wrong, Kookie?" Jimin asked from beside him. He'd always been good at noticing what had been going through Jungkook's head. Jungkook shook his head, however, not wanting to ruin the mood or worry anyone.
"Mrs. Choi is going to be even more disappointed in me," Hoseok complained, writing his entire biology study guide on pieces of toast and eating them. Jimin rolled his eyes and Namjoon sent Hoseok a weird look.
"Why are you doing that?" Namjoon asked, putting down his physics textbook, and accidentally crushing his pinkie in the process, to stare at Hoseok.
"He's been doing it all weekend," Jimin mumbled, putting his head in his hands with a pout. Hoseok ignores him and continued scribbling random biology facts onto bread, not-so-gracefully shoving a slice in his mouth.
Hoseok chewed on another slice of bread. "It'll help me retain the information better." Jin laughed.
"So you're not gonna shit until you take the AP Exam?" he joked, reveling in the blush that coated Hoseok's cheeks. Hoseok sent him a dirty glare and tried to defend himself, also trying not to choke on the bread in the process.
"Hobi-ah," Yoongi began, a teasing smirk on his lips, "I don't know if you can manage for three more days."
"You guys are disgusting," Jungkook teased, pushing his glasses back up on his nose and burying himself in another book. It wasn't a textbook, but nobody had to know that.
"Hey, at least I didn't make out in the back of the car on prom night," Jin teased. Jungkook and Taehyung both flushed at the statement, but quietly laced their hands together under the table.
