-Bam POV-
"Do you wanna go on a date?" Khun asked, grinning.
"A date?" I squeaked.
Khun's smile disappeared. "If you don't want to that's fine-"
"No, no, of course I want to!" I waved my hands in some sort of dismissing motion. Actually, it looked like I was doing jazz hands. "Do you have somewhere in mind?"
"Yeah, I noticed it when I was looking around with the crocodile yesterday. There's a town over to the west..."
——
"Wow." I drank in the sights of the little town. "It's so beautiful here!"
The buildings were made of glass and pale white quartz. In the light of the fake sun in the bright blue shinsu sky, the rooftops glittered with all of the colors of the rainbow. It reminded me a bit of the 21st floor.
"I figured it would be the kind of place you liked," Khun said. "Remember when we were on Evankhell's floor and you said you had never been in such a bright place? Whenever I see the sky, I think of you now."
I sighed. "Evankhell's floor feels like forever ago. God, so much has happened."
Khun clasped my hand. "Hey, it all worked out pretty well in the end, didn't it? I mean, we're here, together, not dead. Gay and alive."
"Not dead is an achievement," I agreed. "Being alive and not being attacked is an amazing feeling."
We made our way through the streets of the rainbow town, laughing and talking. Eventually, we deviated from the main road and ran up a thin side road that wound through the trees. The road went up and up the hillside. After an hour of walking and enjoying the sights, we made it to the top.
The view from the top of the mountainside was beautiful. The sun was slowly sinking below the horizon, coloring the shinsu sky every imaginable shade of pink and orange. The beautiful colors were reflected in the crystal clear waters of the lake below.
"Isn't it beautiful?" Khun asked. His deep cobalt eyes reflected the purples and pinks of the sky.
"It's amazing," I breathed. I walked towards the cliff edge and sat down, my legs dangling over the edge. Khun sat down beside me, a bit unsure. "Are you okay?"
Khun shuddered. "I'm fine, just not a fan of heights."
"I'd catch you if you fell, you know." I squeezed his hand. "There's nothing to be afraid of. Not right now." I sighed. "I never really wanted to climb the tower, you know. I didn't want anything to change. I was okay with things staying as they are. I was fine with being stuck in that cave for the rest of my life. But being here, with you...I finally realize. Nothing lasts forever, but we can enjoy things while they last right?"
Khun opened his mouth, probably to say something, but I kissed him under the sunset before he could say a word.
——
Once again, kind of short, but I wanted to get something out before the new year. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year!
