"Your....you are...."

"Alive, yes I know. Now get up I need coffee and your coming with me."

This isn't how you thought things would be, it was supposed to be different. He was supposed to come home a long time ago, not like this and not now.

"So...where were yo-"

"I'll take a coffee, black." You studied five, eyes considering his young face. He was the same, the same body and same face and the same attitude.

"I'll have a hot chocolate and a blueberry doughnut, please." You smiled graciously at Agnes, she studied the boy then back at you.

"Cute kid! is he one of your students?"

"Don't you think you should go to start that coffee? This isn't 20 questions" Agnes went wide-eyed before scampering off. You hissed at five.

"Hey, that wasn't very kind you know-"

"The world is ending I don't have time to be nice" He spat back, his eyes sliding over to yours. He examined you up and down deliberately.

"You grew up."

"And you didn't."

"...What did she mean by students." You laughed softly as you rubbed the back of your neck.

"Oh I started this...shelter...we take in kids from bad homes and we raise them. I started it a little after you...after you.." Tears filled your eyes as you looked to the side. Five glanced at the counter and frowned, whether it was in disgust of the table or because.... well...

"It was hard... I ran away to find you...ha, funny you found me in the end huh." You looked at him with a forced smile. He looked away. This wasn't what he expected either, but he didn't even know what he had expected.

"I...im sorry..." His voice was quiet, less force and less anger. More broken. Younger.

"Honestly im not sure how we all survived it, dad was so much more... and then ben..." You bit your lip. Not realizing it, it started to bleed from how hard you bit down. "After ben, I left, ran away for a few years. If it wasn't for my god damn power I think I would've been dead. "

"Is that how you made the shelter?" He asked as he took the coffee from Agnes who had returned with your drinks. You smiled politely at her with kind eyes. He looked away from you.

"Not exactly...my power to convert mass and make it into different shapes sort of...changed through the years. Got unstable, developed new powers. I can like levitate now." You chuckled lightly. "Oh, also I can turn any object into something else. Before I could only make things if it was the same material. Watch this!" Excitedly you grabbed your purse, rummaging around for something. Five raised a skeptical eyebrow at you.

You were as excited as he remembered, barely taller than before but more mature. Your face had aged but attractively, eyes deeper and filled with knowledge, your smile soft and kind and such. But you still were a child at heart.

Softly you set a small bottle of lipstick on the table. It was bright pink. Five stared at in thought, not your color at all.

"Anything at all, though try to make it like the same size. I may be able to reshape mass but I can't make more of it."

"Hm... a pen." His eyes slid over to yours. Gently you rolled your eyes but moved your hand over the tube.

Your face twisted up in concentration as the bottle started to melt. Your eyes closed as the melted liquid started to take form. As you opened your eye you quickly snapped and a soft click could be heard as the liquid snapped into place.

"A pen!"

"Mm, you've been practicing." You looked up at him with a quick smile, he smirked back at you in response.

Your hands gently wrapped around your drink as you brought it to your chest. You inhaled the sweet steam as you closed your eyes. A deep sweet sigh left your light pink lips.

Five silently watched you in between his sips of coffee. His hand rested on his knee under the table, he tapped in a slow beat. Quietly he looked at the table before speaking up.

"I need a place to stay."

"You aren't gonna go back home?"

"That place isn't my home, it never was home. " You looked up at him steadily.

"Then what is home to you? Why did you come back for us then, after all this time you came back?" you said softly as you looked around his face. His face hardened before softening slightly. His eyes gave away his sadness.

"You....you were the only home I wanted, your the reason I persevered as long as I did. I had to get back for you." He glanced down at you, and for a moment you saw a glimmer of the boy he used to be.

That was when the gunshots started.
