It was a Thursday morning in march when Luke knocked on the wall next to the portrait of the fat lady.
He was there to pick Calum up for classes, like every morning. Soon enough a student opened the portrait, smiling at Luke.
They were used to him being in the Gryffindor room and honestly nobody cared. As Luke entered the room and the portrait closed, Michael came running down the stairs.
"DUDE!! HAVE YOU SEEN THE INSANE AMOUNT OF VIEWS ON OUR LAST COVER???? GUESS WHO TWEETED THE LINK TO THE VIDEO!! NIALL HORAN! THE ONE FROM ONE DIRECTION! CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? 3 FUCKING MILLION VIEWS!," the red haired boy screamed and shoved his phone into Lukes face.
"Woah calm down Mike, but this is freaking awesome!," Luke beamed.
"I know," Michael sighed happy and fell down on a couch, "We're famous dude."
"Niall is so cute," a gryffindor girl said smiling. Luke laughed and shoved Michael to the side so he could sit down too.
The girls in the room were now deep in conversations about one direction.
"Lukeeyy," a voice shouted from the stairs. Calum came running to him and plopped himself down on Luke's lap.
"We are gonna be famous," he smiled.
"Well maybe, don't over react," he chuckled and kissed his boyfriends lips.
Calum buried his face in Luke's neck and relaxed. They remained like this for a while, while Michael rambled on about being famous and being punk rock.
"Guys we need to leave for class," Luke finally said and got up. He took Calum's hand and together they made their way to their first class.
At lunch, Michael came towards Luke and Calum who sat at the Hufflepuff table today.
"Guys, I thought about our band," Michael said as he plopped down on the bench opposite of Calum.
"What is it?," Luke asked after swallowing his food.
"I think we need a drummer," Michael stated. Calum looked up from his book.
"Why?," he asked confused.
"Dude, every good band has a drummer," Michael said.
"He's got a point, babe," Luke mumbled while chewing on his sandwich.
"Plus, I am tired of being the third wheel," Michael rolled his eyes.
"Well where do you want to find a drummer?," Calum asked.
"Ashton Irwin plays drums, you know, the Ravenclaw sixth grader," Michael said excited.
"But he's older than us and we barely know him," Calum said, his voice anxious.
Calum was always shy and a little bit uncomfortable around new people and he hadn't been fond of the idea of being a band anyway. So adding a new member after he had finally gotten used to the band was a huge no no for him.
"Guys," Luke groaned, "I know Ashton, remember? He lived with me for the first 14 years of my life. We've been over this, you lousy listeners."
"See, Pukey here knows him and he is barely a year older than me," Michael said, grinning.
„Yeah but that doesn't change the fact that I have social anxiety and hate people" Calum huffed and turned back to his potions homework.
"C'mon bro, please, let me ask him. Don't be such a buzz kill, we could really be something one day," Michael said desperately.
"Why don't you stop being such an ass first?," Calum snapped and glared at Michael.
"Language, Mr Hood," Professor Longbottom muttered while walking past behind them.
"Hey hey, you two," Luke held up a hand, "What the fuck?"
Calum huffed and rolled his eyes before he started collecting his things.
"Hey," Luke said softly and caught Calum's hands, "talk."
"He is never taking my mental state siriously. I am honestly anxious and spending time with new people emotionally exhausts me, Michael. Maybe you can stop trying to force or guilt trip your best friend into things he doesn't want to do," Calum frowned.
"I am sorry," Michael muttered quietly, "I didn't want to make you feel like I don't take your mental health serious, mate. You know I am struggling myself so I tend to... I don't know, try to push it away as much as possible. That's very insensitive of me.."
Calums grim face softened. "No I am sorry.. I sometimes forget that I am not the only one who is struggling.." Luke smiled, proud of himself.
Calum sighed and closed his potions book. "You know what," he said, "maybe I should start to actively get out of my comfort zone. Let's ask Ashton. If Luke likes him, I am sure I will too."
Luke nodded smiling proudly and grabbed Calum's hand underneath the table.
"Are you sure?," Michael asked, "I don't want him if you don't want him."
"No, I am sure. Go ahead and ask him," Calum smiled small. Michael smiled a big smile and ushered away.
Calum looked down at his book, seeming to be very tense.
„Hey," Luke said softly, „c'mere."
He wrapped an arms around Calum and Calum buried his face in Luke's chest.
„I know you are uncomfortable with new people, but maybe Mike is right and we will sound way better with Ashton and he is just like us and you'll like him, I know it. But whatever might happen, I will be there for you and that's why you don't need to worry," Luke spoke softly while resting his head on top of Calums, „Okay?"
„Yeah," Calum mumbled and looked up at Luke. „I love you," he smiled.
„Love you too," Luke smiled and pecked Calum's lips.
On the same evening, Luke and Calum made their way to the Room Of Requirements, where they usually rehearsed. The boys entered the room, their hands intertwined. They were greeted by Michael sitting on the couch next to Ashton. Calum stopped immediately.
„Hey Guys!," Michael shouted and Ashton turned his head.
„Hi," Ashton smiled.
„Hi," Luke grinned back.
„H-Hello," Calum mumbled and Luke gave his hand a gentle squeeze.
„Shall we?," Michael asked grinning and Luke nodded excitedly.
„Let's do One Thing by One Direction," Michael beamed.
„So fucking punk rock," Luke mumbled, "fucking hypocrite who didn't want to name the band bromance."
„Oh fuck off, I heard that", Michael pouted.
Luke sticked out his tongue at him.
„Cal, you sing," Michael demanded.
„W-why no! I can't sing!," Calum panicked.
„Are you kidding me? You can sing!," Michael shouted. Calum groaned. He sat down and played with his hands nervously.
Michael started playing the first cordes and Calum panicked even more.
„Hey, look at me," Luke mumbled and Calum turned to him.
„I've tried playing cool, but when I'm looking at you...", Calum sang and Luke smiled encouraging.
After the song ended, Ashton smiled brightly.
„Your voice is amazing, Calum, so is yours Luke," Ashton said amazed, "Count me in on this band."
Calum blushed and Luke smiled, pecking Calums cheek.
"They are always that gay," Michael muttered and Luke showed him the finger.
