Early mornings were nothing new to me. It was natural in my daily routine, whether I preferred it or not. Majesty was used to it too, and we usually started our mornings with a quick flight around town. I breathed heavily as I dropped a barrel of hay in front of her feet. She neighed in delight and immediately started devouring the food. I giggled.

"Hungry, are we?" I stood next to her and smoothed my hand over her soft coat.

"Well, you're an hour late, Bliss! I was just about ready to chew on my own tail." I rolled my eyes. She was always a good stress reliever for me, knowing she understood me and knew when something was on my mind. She was a present to me for my 7th birthday. Majesty was my only friend for a while. When I was little I wasn't the kind of girl to play with dolls and dress up like a princess. The men in my family were all about war and training, and that's what I grew up with, even before Coda was born. Majesty snorted. "Alright, I'm ready." I shook my head and smiled, walking to a section of the stable where her saddle was.

"Always so bossy." I mounted onto her back after fixing the harness and checking the buckles. I didn't like using a face harness on Majesty. Taking flight was freedom for both of us and she shouldn't feel trapped during her time to feel free. Besides, with a muzzle around her mouth how was I supposed to hear her? "Let's go Majesty." Her hoof scuffed on the dirt floor before she sped up and stretched her huge, feathered wings. The wind rushed through my hair from the upcoming speed. I took a deep breath and outstretched my arms, loving the feeling of flying. "Honestly Mage, I never get bored of this. You must love being able to fly whenever you want."

"I guess you could say that. It's a much more interesting ride with you though." The forest below us grew smaller and smaller. The Town Square came into view in the distance. Everyone was already busy as usual. The farmers market tents were up, the clothing shops were bustling with new trends and customers waiting to get them first, and the sweet smell of fresh bread made my stomach growl. I realized I hadn't eaten breakfast yet, but I pushed the thought aside.

"Hey, let's go to the lake first. I could really use some peace to clear my head right now."

"I guess we can. Why? Did something happen?" Part of me really wanted to tell her about last night, but I didn't want her to influence my decision.

"It's not that big of a deal, I promise." I knew she wanted to protest but flew toward the forest anyway without question. As we approached the small lake I could hear the sheets of trickling water from the flowing waterfall. Majesty landed gracefully, ruffling her wings. I dismounted and walked toward the lake.

"I'm going to go find some grass to eat." I looked back to see her back already turned to me walking away.

"What do you mean? You just ate!"

"I am a growing, hungry Pegasus, Bliss!" I rolled my eyes and glanced back at the glistening water. It really was beautiful this time of day. I noticed a fallen tree hanging from one side of the lake to the other. It looked like a perfect place to sit. I carefully climbed the tree roots and balanced my way to the middle of the log. I could feel the pokes of the splintering wood poking me, but I didn't pay much attention to it. I sat down on a relatively smooth spot, feeling the breeze from the waterfall on the back of my neck. My feet dipped into the water. It was quite chilly due to it only being morning but felt good against my skin. My eyes wandered my surroundings. The trees were just starting to bud with fruits and flowers of spring. Birds chirped around me singing songs of joy as if to call out to all the forest that it's a new day. I sighed. It hasn't changed a bit. I used to come here all the time when I was little. I would take Love on pony rides and then we would go swimming in the lake. But it stopped when I started taking my training seriously. I trained once a day for four hours and it became hard to find a time to hang out with her. I spotted some Koi fish swimming around by my feet. One of them, a particularly beautiful one at that, swam close to my feet and gave me a friendly look. I immediately recognized her as Loki.
