"What..? How... Why aren't you..?" Nothing I was saying was clear.

"Show me your arm." He said.

"What why?" I asked.

He pulled up his sleeve and showed me the numbers "008" tattooed on the inside of his arm. "I was tested on too. He said I was the only one to have the power to compel people."

"I was the second person to get it." I said blankly.

"I moved here a few months ago. I don't think he was expecting us to meet." The five minute bell rang as soon as he finished talking. "We should get to class. But we can keep talking about this in a minute. Oh yeah, and there's a tracker in our arms that blink sometimes if you haven't noticed. So he knows we've met most likely."

I yanked up my sleeve and poked my tattoo. Under my skin a light flashed red. "What the hell?"

"You know you have to get that out, right? We both do. He's a crazy bastard and I'm sure he'll do something insane if he knows that we've met."

"He's probably already planning." I pursed my lips. "Where do I sit? I'm Brynne Arnette." I asked the teacher when we entered the class.

"Welcome Brynne." He said. "You sit right there, across from Gavin and Jeremy and next to Ethan."

"Thanks." I said smiling.

"Seat buddies!" Gavin squealed sarcastically, sliding in across from me at our four people table.

"Yeah, it's just fabulous I'm with all boys."

"Better than with Samantha Berren." He glanced at a table with a girl that was blonde, brown eyed, tan, and had boobs.

"Looks like someone guys would really like."

"Most do," he looked back at their table, "but I'm not into her. She's kind of a bitch, really popular, and I honestly am not into the fake blonde thing."

"Fake blonde is not my thing." I had already started disliking Samantha. "But honestly, aren't you popular too?"

"Yeah, I am. And she's been in love with me since last year. Still thinks she can actually get me. Isn't that sad?"

"Why couldn't she?"

"Have I not already told you she's a bitch?" He said looking at Ethan and Jeremy who were coming for their seats. "Hey dudes."

"Hey, Gavi... Ooo who's this?" The one called Ethan said, scanning me with his eyes from head to toe. "Nice." He said, smirking.

"My names Brynne, and if you do that again I will punch your throat." I said and smiled. I heard Jeremy and Gavin laughing.

"Sorry." Ethan said and sat down quickly in the seat next to mine.

"Where did you come from?" Jeremy asked. Jeremy was: Tan skin, blonde hair, blue eyes. Just perfection. Ethan was cute too and his big glasses made him even cuter.

"All over. I traveled a lot. I'm a foster kid." I said shrugging and I took a second to glance at Gavin, who was looking at me. He knew it was a lie because he had made up similar lies too.

"Oh... I'm sorry." Jeremy said.

"Don't be. My dad was a drunk bastard. Couldn't stand him. I have a good temporary family now with Diana and Josh and Andrew."

"You mean Andrew the senior?" Ethan asked.

"Yeah?"

"Woah, he's a cool dude." Ethan said. The class bell rang to mark the beginning of my first day of school that I would remember.

"Welcome class, we have a new student." The teacher announced. "Come on up, Brynne." My stomach dropped to my feet at the thought of having to go up there. I slowly shuffled up to the front of class anyway. "Introduce yourself!"

"Hi, I'm Brynne. My dad traveled all the time, so I never got to go to school, then he decided to give me up so now I'm a foster kid living here."

"Oh... But thanks Brynne!" The teacher said. When I walked back over to my seat I saw Samantha staring me down. When I looked at her again she smiled and waved.

"She's got it in for you." Gavin said. "It's because you're a lot prettier than her. But no fret, usually she doesn't go too crazy with being jealous. Or at least she doesn't show it until she does something insane."

"Thanks, I think?" I half laughed but also felt my cheeks getting red.

"Aw, I see you blushing." Gavin said smirking.

"I'm not." I tried to sound confident but let's just say it didn't come out that way.

"Mm hmm. But you still are. Even right now."

"No I'm not! Now pay attention the teacher is talking."

"Oh so now you're interested in the teacher instead of me." He winked. "I see."

I rolled my eyes as my response to that. I feel like I had known him for a lot longer than an hour, I guess because we found something pretty important in common: we were both morphed.
