"No, actually I'm not." I pushed the door but he stopped it with his hand.
"Yes, you are." He growled, taking a few steps towards me.
I began to shuffle backwards when I felt a strong hand on my back. I looked up into Gavin's hard gaze.
"What are you doing here?" Gavin questioned. "Nobody is leaving this house."
"Well I guess you'll just have to come too. But you guys can come the easy way, or the hard way."
"We're not leaving. But you will need to get out of my house before I make Andrew bring his baseball bat down here, and he will use it." Andrew is still here, right? Even though my mind was screaming to run or fight, and my muscles were tensed to the point of extremity, the warmth of Gavin's hand on my lower back was enough to keep me sane.
"So I see you've already found your old personality." Dr. Overly smiled. But it wasn't warm or comforting. It was ice cold.
"I will break your fucking nose in a matter of seconds if you don't get out." I had never seen Gavin so pissed.
"I assume you want the hard way, then." Dr. Overly grabbed Gavin's arm and stabbed a needle into his skin. Gavin collapsed, and there was nothing to keep me balanced anymore.
"Get away from me." I took a few steps away from the horror movie happening in front of my eyes. I wasn't going down without a fight.
I stuck my foot out and pulled him from behind his knee so he collapsed. My foot contacted with his groin, but I realized I hadn't won when it hit something solid.
Dr. Overly began to laugh. "You actually think I'd come here, to get you, and not wear something to protect my balls? Remember, I know you better than you know yourself."
He knows me better than I know myself. I sought out an escape, but there were none. So I pushed his arm out of the way and went to Gavin's crumpled figure. "Come on, Gavin. Wake up." I whispered desperately, turning around every few seconds to see Dr. standing up. "Wake up!" I shook him. I put my head on his chest to feel his heart still beating.
"Don't worry, he's just sleeping for a little while." The doctor cackled. An ugly sound. My mind was buzzing, thinking too fast so I couldn't capture any of the thoughts.
"Get away from me." I stood up and pushed him back. He didn't even sway.
I felt a pinch on my arm. It was almost like a bug biting.
Maybe I didn't put up a good enough fight. If I even put one up at all.
I guess I would have to think about this while I was sleeping, because my world faded to black and everything disappeared.

"Wake up."
"Huh?"
"Brynne, you need to wake up."
I recognized that voice.
"Gavin?" I mumbled sleepily, opening my eyes.
"Yes, it's me. Now we need to get out of here."
I opened my eyes wider to see Gavin's tall figure standing over me.
"Are you okay?" I asked, trying to sit up but failing.
"I should be asking you the same thing. But I don't know when Dr. Overly will be back, so we need to get a move on." He picked me up bridal style, my head was still fuzzy.
"My eyes don't want to open." I said stupidly. My head fell against his chest and I couldn't pick it back up. Not like it wasn't okay, because I will tell you it felt very nice, but I really shouldn't be worrying about this right now.
"Yeah, that's how I felt when I woke up too. Now stop talking for a minute, I need to see if I can tell where he is." Gavin stopped and peeked around the corner of a corridor. A scream came from one of the rooms off of the hall.
I opened my eyes. Why did that scream sound so familiar? "That sounds familiar." I whispered.
"It sounds familiar to me too, but it's probably sounding like that on purpose to get us to come. So we can't fall for it." He responded quietly. He dashed past two hallways then paused again. "I don't know how to get out, but we can find a way."
"Put me down," I said reluctantly. "I think I might know how." He set me down gently, and at that point I wish I could've just stayed there forever.
"There's an exit sign down there." He said.
I looked at it for a minute until I realized something was off about it. "This is just a maze. That's a trick."
I turned right into one hall, I felt my own footsteps had been there before. I took another right and then a left. Voila, there was a door, leading to the outside. "Here we are. We're sa-"
"What are you two doing out here?" I was cut off by a male voice behind me.
Of course. I think I jinxed it.
