"But," the doctor continued, "we used the defibrillator, and now he's alive." He smiled. "Not only alive, but awake." Diana and I both burst into tears. "You can't go in there yet though."
"Why not?" I asked through my tears.
"Because he's not stable enough for being overwhelmed. But the first thing he said was 'he's coming', so I'm guessing he's been having nightmares, so maybe you guys will jog some good memories. That'll have to wait until later, though."
"What?" I questioned blankly. This wasn't something normal. I'm almost positive Andrew knows something we don't. "I need to see him. Now." I demanded and pushed past the doctor.
"I'm sorry, you can't do that..."
"But I will! And you will let me." I locked eyes with him.
"You can go in." He said in a trans-like state.
"Thanks." I pulled Diana into him room.
"Andrew!" I cried and ran to his bed.
"Brynne." He muttered and attempted to pull me into a hug. An awkward one because he was so weak and could barely life his arms. "Mom." He pulled her in too. Andrew gently pushed us back and looked at us. "I have something important."
"What?"
"The doctor Overly is coming. To kill me and get you. I know he is. He's going to raid this hospital with his guard people and he needs to erase your and Gavin's memories again. There's something he can't let you know, but I don't know what."
"Well then we need to get you out of here!" Diana yelled.
"I'm too weak, mom." He said softly.
"We can't just let you die. You've been gone for too long to just let go now." I wept.
"Then get someone guarding my door, compel the front desk to not tell anyone where I am. That may help. But I can't do anything. And I'm almost positive he's coming now so you need to get out."
"Wait, but Gavin got our chips out, how does he know where we are?"
Andrew answered by scooting up his sleeve to show a blinking red light in his arm. "He put one in me. Now you need to go."
"I'll stay." Diana said. "I'll take care of him, now go. I won't let us go." She smiled faintly with tear stained cheeks.
"I can't just..." I trailed off.
"Yes you can. You will survive. Now go get Gavin and get out of the city. Go! Now!" She pushed me through the door and closed it. In my face. But I took her advice and ran to the car. Just as I put the keys in the ignition a few black SUVs rolled in like they do in movies. I backed out and took off quickly making sure not to look back.
You probably wonder, why don't you just tell the cops? This is why. If we tell police, they'll take care of him but then Overly will tell them about us being morphed. We will be test dummies. I won't live like a rat having cancer cures tested on me.
I leapt out of the Porsche as soon as I arrived at Gavin's.
"Gavin!" I yelled, stumbling up to his door. "Gavin!" I pounded on his door. I was just about to knock it down when he opened it. His hair was a hot mess, and I mean hot as in sexy, he looked half asleep and was just wearing low slung sweatpants. "Uh... I..." I momentarily forgot why I came. "We need to go. Andrew has a chip in his arm that Dr. Overly put there and he knows where Andrew is and suspected we'd be close. He's in the hospital looking for us right now and we need to get out of town."
"Right now?" He mumbled sleepily.
I snapped in his face as he began to close his eyes. "GAVIN! He's going to erase our memories if we don't get going! You can sleep in the car." That woke him up enough to where he ran upstairs, threw a shirt on (to my disappointment), and ran back down with some clothes shoved in a bag.
"Just in case we have to stay a few days."
"Oh shit. We should probably go and get stuff from my house... But we don't have time and that'd probably be the next place he'd look. Dammit. I guess I'll be okay, I can just buy more, right?" I was more talking to myself than him.
"Yes you can, now get a move on." He put his hands on my shoulders and guided me to the car. My stomach still flipped even with such a casual gesture like that. Gavin ran back to his house, shouted something up the steps, then proceeded to lock his door. I called Josh and told him to go anywhere but home. Then we peeled out of his driveway and took off to the highway.
"Where are we going?" Gavin asked from the passenger seat.
"I have no idea. I guess we'll try to make it an hour without stops and we'll figure it out from there. I just want Andrew and Diana to be okay." I tapped my fingers on the steering wheel, taking an exit off of the highway.
"I think they will be. There are tons of police there and..."
I cut him off, "and tons of Dr. Overly's guards."
"Yeah, but... I don't know, Brynne. Can we talk about something else?" He groaned.
"Sure. Isn't it crazy how we're only sixteen and have so much life to live yet someone wants to kill us or erase our memories and we're like really cool vampires that don't drink blood or burn in sunlight?"
"If that's the way you want to put it, then yes." He smiled. "And I'm really glad it was you that was the other one like me. Because if I would've just not moved here then I would be alone."
My heart fluttered at the fact that he was happy it was me. I'm happy it was him too. "I'm glad it was you too." This didn't seem like a very big thing to say, but it took a lot of confidence. I guess we were just friends, but even as friends we had a little more. He probably didn't feel the same way, though. I was just another innocent girl toy probably, but either way I didn't care. I liked the way I felt when he was around so I would just ride out the high.

We switched off drivers after the first hour. A pit stop was made in the middle of our trip because I really had to pee and wanted a milkshake. I slept the whole time that Gavin was driving and I woke up a while later. I was in Gavin's arms in a nice hotel.
"Could I get a room please?" He asked.
"Two beds or one?" I kept one eye closed, pretending to be asleep but I caught the desk man was looking at me.
"Two." Aw, Gavin. I respect him for that.
"Are you over the age of 18?" He raised his eyebrow suspiciously.
"You are going to let us have a two bed room. We will pay for it but free room service will be required. Got it?" His eyes locked onto the desk mans. Gavin was such a badass, wasn't he.
"Got it. Here's your key." He handed him a card and took Gavin's credit card from his hand. What can I say, we both had pretty rich families.
"Thanks." I could hear the smirk playing on Gavin's face. I'm surprised he had been able to hold me for this long. It's not like I'm heavy, but it's hard to hold 115 pounds bridal style for a while. I decided to just let my brain relax and I attempted to kill the butterflies in my stomach as he hit the 4th floor elevator button.
Going up.
