"Do you wanna go skating?" He asked.
"No, I hate it." I retorted. "Do you not even know me?"
"Sorry, 011." Gavin mumbled, a hint of amusement in his voice. "Maybe... I don't know?"
"Take me swimming, 008." I paused to think. "Wait, no. Take me home so I can get a bathing suit, then we can go."
"Aw, I was hoping you'd just have to take off your clothes." He pouted.
"Shut up, you perv." I rolled my eyes while fighting the smile tugging at my lips.
"You may as well be a cougar, then."
"What did I do that makes me a cougar?"
"I can see you imagining me without my shirt on." He smirked.
"Am not!" My face began to heat up, because I knew that would be a nice sight.
"Liar. Let's just go and get those bathing suits. Wear your best bikini." He winked.
"This is why you're a perv."
"Aw."
30 minutes later we were standing next to the pool and I was staring down into it. "Go ahead." Gavin motioned to me getting in.
"You first." I could barely talk because I was too busy admiring his chest.
"No. We are not playing this game. Now get in." A few girls behind me flirtily laughed, staring at Gavin's back.
"Do you need something?" I asked them.
"No, sorry." If looks could kill, these girls would be murders. They were staring holes in the back of my head.
"I'm not getting in until you do, Gavin." He was completely oblivious to the girls already making baby name plans behind him.
"Okay, well looks like we're both going in." Before my mind had time to process it, he had grabbed me and jumped in. I screamed as I reached the surface again, over dramatically but very affective. "What's wrong, princess?"
"Don't call me that." I pushed him.
"What, princess?" I wanted to wipe that smirk off of his face. So I actually tried but failed greatly when he just pushed me under the water.
I gasped for air once again. "You're gonna get it." I growled and leapt at him. My hands found his shoulders and they shoved him towards the bottom. He went under, but only for a second before coming back up, seeking payback. A grin spread across his face.
He threw me over his shoulder and started walking. I punched his back but it was worthless, he had a tight hold. Oh poo. He had taken me out of the water and all I could see was him walking around to the other side of the pool. I clung onto him but he easily detached me from his shoulder. "Ready?" he asked. His back muscles flexed and my stomach buzzed.
"For what?" And then I was flying, no longer having the comfort of his body. My voice found itself and I screamed when I hit the water.
"Hello?" Gavin answered a phone while I resurfaced and flipped my hair. "Okay. Okay." He hung up. "Brynne, we need to go."
"Where?"
"The hospital."

Nurses and doctors rushed into Andrew's room. All of them went at once and there were tons of things being yelled inside.
"Andrew?" I murmured, looking up from my chair outside of his room. "Andrew?!" I jumped up from my chair and tried to get into the room, water dripping off of my hair from the pool. I had quickly thrown on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt afterwards.
"You can't go in there." A male nurse stopped me from going further.
"You can't stop me!" I yelled.
"Yes I can, now please go sit back down." He grabbed my shoulders and tried to guide me back to my seat, but you won't believe how strong people can be when they're desperate.
I wriggled and fought out of his grip and attempted to go into the room again.
"Brynne! Stop!" Diana grabbed my arm and pulled me back.
"Let go of me!" I began to break down. "Let go of me." I whispered. Tears streamed down my face and didn't seem to stop. It was almost like an 100% chance of rain across my skin and wasn't showing signs of letting up.
"Shhhh." Diana cooed, pulling me into her lap. "You'll be okay."
"But will he be?" I cried.
"Maybe."
"Maybe?" I looked up at her to see her eyes watering.
"We don't know yet, but we have to have hope."
"Hope isn't enough for now, Diana." I felt something wet hit my bare shoulder. There were definitely no leaks in here.
"Well it'll have to be, or else I have nothing else." Another drop hit my shoulder and I realized it was her tears. I hugged her, knowing I would have to be strong for her. She was going through as much pain as me, maybe more, and I was being selfish.
"Then hope it will be. I love you, mom." I said for the first time ever. And she cried. Hard. I hope it was happy tears.

"We have some news." A doctor walked out of Andrew's room and I jumped up.
"Go on." Diana said.
"His heart... It stopped." And in that moment, I swear mine did too.
