Chapter 23: True Ending

Hanji's POV

"Ma... ma... mama..." Iris smiles gently towards me when I was caressing her sweet cheeks. Her silver-like eyes glinted brightly as she held her wolf stuffed animal. Her chubby fingers never let that toy go. I remember seeing this stuffed animal when she wasn't even born yet. From what Eren said, he got that toy for his little sister- hoping that the wolf would protect her as his bear once did.

"Yes, little one?" I asked her gently, chuckling softly. She was about to turn 1, and already, she was an older sister. 2 months ago, Levi and I had another daughter: Rose. Of course, there was a pattern. I liked little flower names for my daughters. "Want to see your sister?"

"M-Mama..."

"What?" I chuckled, nuzzling my daughter as I took her over to Rose. Eren, once more, decided to get Rose a stuffed animal. Instead of a wolf, Eren got Rose a little white tiger. "Do you just like saying my name?"

Iris smiled and giggled- almost like Eren's giggles. I could see the resemblance- even though she didn't look like Eren. What they had in common was their mischief. "Mama..."

"What about Dada? Can you say his name?"

"M-Mama..."

I chuckled softly, peering down into the small cradle of Rose's. She was sleeping gently in her crib, just a still baby. How in the two months I had her, she had a lock of dark brown hair- and beneath her closed eyelids, she had green eyes. Green eyes was somehow common on Levi's side. After all, Eren has green eyes while Levi doesn't. Take away everything else, she was somewhat like me when I was a baby. 

"Can you say Rose's name?"

Iris didn't say anything else. She just smiled and giggled. With that, my little mischief-maker Eren came in with a book in his hand. Next to him, Levi was standing and holding his hand on his son's shoulders. "Someone wanted to read his little sisters a story- do you mind, Hanji?"

I chuckled softly, letting Eren sit on the rocking chair in Rose's room. "Go ahead."

"E-Eren..." Levi and I looked towards our daughter as she smiled and said her older brother's name. "D-Dada..."

 "S-She said my name!" Eren giggles and smiles towards Iris. "D-Dad! She said my name! She said my name! She also said yours! She's learning! She's learning!"

Levi rose his finger and tried to shush Eren with a smile. "Quiet. Rose is sleeping in this room, you know. Be very quiet."

"Oh..." Eren nodded and rose his finger to his rosy lips. "Okay, I'll be very quiet- like a mouse!"

He quickly runs over to the rocking chair and sits down. He puts the book to his side and awaits for Iris to be in his arms. I chuckled, letting Iris in his arms. It's interesting to see his surprise that he could no longer cradle Iris- but he could cradle Rose in his arms. 

"E-Eren..." Iris says, giggling and wrapping her arms around Eren's arms so tightly. Eren smiles, kissing his little sister's forehead. "E-Eren..."

That bright smile of his grew and grew. "I love you, Iris. I love you very, very much! Now, it's story time!"

As Eren was about to start his story to Iris, I walked over to Levi and kissed his cheek. "You need to work, okay? I got the little ones."

"Since you promoted me as the CEO, it's a bit easier. Although... in order to promote me, you resigned. What now?" He says in his usual gruff tone. He looked towards his 3 children, sighing heavily. "I worry, you know. This is my family... you're my family."

I nodded my head, "Of course I am. And you deserve to have the best- especially during work. Besides... I'm done with businesses. I wanna work to be a teacher- teach science to kids. The kids love me- you remember how we met?"

Levi chuckles softly, nodded his head with a smile. "How could I not remember it? You are good with kids... go and study to be a teacher."

My lips met his again, and I smiled. "Alright then... now, hurry off to work. See you at 5 tonight."
