How to not mess this up #malec fanfiction

So what are we?

Magnus had just finished making coffee when Alec stirred on the couch. Magnus had put a blanket on him, when he woke at 9am and slipped out from underneath him quietly. He had looked so peaceful, he couldn't wake him. Instead he made coffee.

Alec sat up quickly, looking confused as ever, and then immediately groaned loudly, holding onto his head. Magnus chuckled and shuffled closer, with a glass of water in one hand and two painkillers in the other. He handed them to Alec, who took them without a second thought. When he set the glass down he looked around and then at Magnus. Then he said "Um...how did I get here?"

Magnus sat down on the couch and with a smile replied "I was just about to ask you the same thing. I never told you where I live." Alec tried to think but it was obvious his headache was not making it easy for him. He slowly said "I think I...I think I met a friend of your friends." Now it was Magnus' turn to be confused. Who could've that been?

Alec shook his head and then said quietly "I'm really sorry. I drank way too much, I shouldn't have come here. And I don't know if I said or did anything, but I'm really sorry..." he wanted to go on, but Magnus made a 'shh' sound and Alec closed his mouth. Magnus stood up and then said "You only came here, needed a place to crash because you 'didn't want to go home' and then you fell asleep. On my couch. That's it. No harm done." He smiled at Alec who smiled back shyly, and Magnus almost kissed him. But he restrained himself. "Coffee?" he asked gleefully. Alec nodded slowly and took the cup Magnus was handing him.

They drank in silence for a few minutes and then Magnus asked, before he could stop himself "Who was that-I mean who were the people in the photo you uploaded? I recognized Izzy and Jace but not the other two." Alec eyebrows furrowed but he took out his phone and scrolled his Instagram. Realization dawned on him. "Oh right, I put that up after we'd run into Jacob. He's the other guy here. He's my work mate. Known him since I started working there, really chill guy. Oh and that's Clary." he pointed to the redhead. "She's the girl from the suit store. Jace and she really hit it off last night..." he's voice wasn't exactly overly happy. Magnus smiled and asked "You don't like her?"

Alec shook his head. Before he answered, he took a sip of coffee. Then he said "I like her. She was sweet. And kind and funny. That's why I don't like the fact she's dating Jace. Jace is not exactly the 'only one girl' kind of guy." Magnus chuckled and replied "And you are different how?" Alec seemed wounded and Magnus regretted what he had said immedately. Alec started to get up but Magnus took him by the sleeve and said quickly "I'm sorry, that was uncalled for. I meant to say that we're both...well, neither of us are exactly relationship people. At least that's what you said."

Alec stared at him for a while and then sighed "I mean Jace is the guy who has multiple girl in line. When I'm with someone, I am with only them. No matter for how short a time." Magnus let go of his sleeve. Inside, he felt relief. So Alec intended to be with only him. For now.

"You can stay for breakfast, if you want? And you can use my shower." He offered. Alec looked thoughtful. He checked his phone, typed something and then said "Okay. The bathroom is...?" Magnus gestured towards it and said "There are towels on the shelves. Do you need a change of clothes? I'm pretty sure I have some sweatpants somewhere that should fit you." Alec smiled and said "Yeah, thanks, that would be great."

Magnus went to his bedroom and found some clothes for Alec and then handed them over. Alec smiled and then went to the bathroom. Meanwhile, Magnus made breakfast - his famous pancakes. When he was almost done, Alec emerged from the bathroom. He was wearing the sweatpants Magnus had given him. But he wasn't wearing a shirt. Magnus could see a drip of water slide its way down Alec's abs and all the way down to the waistband of his pants. Magnus realized he was staring and holding his breath.
