Magnus was beyond nervous, pacing around in front of his apartment and waiting for Alec to pick him up. He had put on his black skinny jeans and a red, colorful button up and his black coat. His hear were styled to perfection, like always, with the glitter present in them. Hi make-up consisted only of eyeliner this time. Magnus fidgeted with his rings on his fingers. What if this was a mistake? What if the date will turn out horribly and he will be even more miserable than before?
He saw Alec's car round the corner and felt his heart speed up. He took a deep breath, and then Alec was there. He came out of the car, smiling shyly at him. He wore his usual black jeans, but had also gone with a button up, dark blue in his case and a leather jacket. His hair were perfect - it was clear he had tried to style them, but they looked just as messy as ever, but that's how Magnus remembered them. He rounded the car and opened the passenger door. "Let me get that for you," he said sweetly. Magnus smiled and got in. Alec came to the drivers seat and started the car. While driving, Alec glance at Magnus and said "You look very nice." Magnus beamed at him and replied "Thank you, Alexander. You're not so bad yourself." He saw Alec's smirk from the corner of his eye but decided to focus on the road. Not 10 minutes had passed when Alec had pulled up to an Irish Pub called Sweet Rosie. Magnus raised his eyebrows at Alec when he got out and Alec smiled "I remember you told me that you're mom live in Ireland and that you really loved it there. I thought this is the closest I can get to that."
Magnus was astounded, but smiled at Alec and very softly planted a kiss onto his cheek, saying "That's very sweet." Alec smiled his shy smile again, which made Magnus' heart leap. They went in and sat down. A cute, small waitress with short, orange hair came towards them. She smiled widely and asked "What can I get you today?". They ordered and the waitress went to fill their order, smiling all the time. Alec however, was smiling at Magnus. Magnus smiled back, his hands propped on his chin. He waited. He wanted Alec to speak first. Alec finally said "I'm so glad you came, Magnus. Really." Magnus looked at him. He seemed a little better than the last time he saw him, his eyes were not that tired and had that sparkle in them, that Magnus loved. His hands were on the table, and Magnus felt the urge to grab them. So he did. Alec seemed a little surprised at the motion, but took them in his and ran his fingers over Magnus' knuckles. Magnus felt a shiver down his spine. "I am happy that I came here, too." Magnus said.
As they ate, Alec told Magnus about his therapy and how he had gotten better. A lot of the time, Isabelle and Jace were the ones supporting him, helping him, but a lot of it was Alec's own doing as well. Magnus admired the way Alec had coped with it, although it still hurt that he was pushed away from his life. "I'm just a lot better now. And, Magnus, I still regret that I pushed you away. I know I can't take that back." Alec said, his brows furrowing and his eyes sad. "But if you give me this chance, I'll show you how much it means to me, that you were there for me and how much I want you in my life." he continued. Magnus looked up at him, feeling himself melt with his words. Alec was absolutely beautiful and his pleading face was something Magnus never wanted to see again. "Alexander, I know. Let's just see how this goes. But you mean a lot to me, too, and I know you know that." Magnus replied quietly. Alec seemed satisfied by this statement, nodding slightly. Once they were finished, Alec paid their waitress and held out a hand to Magnus, when standing up. Magnus took it and let Alec lead him outside. Only they didn't get in the car, they just walked past it.
"Where are you taking me, Alexander?" Magnus asked, playfulness in his voice. Alec smirked and said "Still a surprise. It's not far, just a few minute walk." They walked hand in hand, Magnus didn't almost notice how Alec had grabbed his, it felt like no time had passed at all and they were never apart. The air was quite cold now and small puffs of air was visible when they breathed out. Magnus sneaked a glance at Alec. Under the street lights his hair shone and his pale skin was like snow contrasting with the tall, dark building of New York. They had stopped in front of a building and Magnus almost burst out laughing. It was a rollerskating rink. "Alexander, do you even know how to rollerskate?" Magnus asked with amusement. Alec shook his head, but smiled still "No. But I bet you do, so will you hold me up?" Magnus stared at him. In his mind he wanted to say "always" but in reality, he just nodded and lead them inside. Once they had strapped their skates on, they moved onto the rink. There were just a few people besides them, so Alec felt a little bit confident. Although he was terrible at skating.
"Why are you flapping your arms like you're a bird?" Magnus asked, tears forming in his eyes from laughing so hard. Alec seemed pretty pissed off when he said "Shut up. This is really hard, okay?" He stumbled and fell down. Magnus was instantly by his side. "Are you alright?" he asked, biting his lip to keep himself from laughing. Alec grumbled "Go on, laugh. I know you want to." Magnus smiled and held him up, looking him in his eyes. "I'm not going to. Here, let me help you." He gave Alec his arm and he took it. Together, Alec got the hang of it. "See, nothing to it." Magnus said, helping them glide over the rink. Alec laughed and it rang around the rink. Magnus savored the moment. Alec looked utterly adorable, trying to do something he clearly chose because Magnus liked it, and he was so grateful for that. He's really trying, Magnus thought, as he watched Alec make tumbling steps around the rink.
When they had their full, they took off their skates and went back outside. They were both smiling widely, faces slightly flushed because of the 'exercise'. "So, what now?" Magnus asked happily. Alec smiled and replied "Back to the car. Come on." It was now almost 11 and Alec drove in the pitch black. They started to reach the outskirts of the city and Magnus joked "Is this the part where you drive me to the woods and kill me?" Alec chuckled. "You spoiled the ending." Alec pulled up just outside of town, next to what looked like a ranch. Magnus raised his eyebrows. "Where'd you find a ranch outside of New York?" he asked. Alec didn't park the car but drove around the building and Magnus just had to gasp. I was one of those drive-in theatre's and there were already about 5 cars there. Alec got out at looked at Magnus surprised face smugly. "Here," he said, laying out a blanket on the hood of the car. He also took out some pillows and another blanket to drape over them. He even had popcorn. "It's starting in 5, come on." Alec said.
Magnus propped himself up to the hood and Alec came next to him. He looked at Magnus in question, like he was too scared to ask something, but Magnus scooted closer to him and Let his head rest on his chest. Alec smiled and draped the blanket over them. It was a horror movie. Nicely played, Lightwood, Magnus thought. He was scared of horror movies, so naturally, whenever there was a jump scare, he hid his face into Alec's neck. Alec only smirked and snaked his hand around Magnus' waist. Magnus rested his head in the crook of Alec's neck and breathed in the sweet scent of his cologne. His skin was soft when Magnus' nose touched it and he almost felt compelled to kiss it.
When the movie was over, Magnus sat up and stretched. Then he bumped Alec's shoulder slightly and faked hurt "You know I hate horror movies. Why would you put me through that?" Alec put his hands around him and nuzzled into Magnus' neck and laughed against his skin "Oh come on, you liked it. Gave you the opportunity to cuddle into me." Magnus mocked "I think it was you who liked that part more." Alec only shrugged his shoulders but he was smiling at Magnus. He leaned in a bit and Magnus felt himself do the same. His hand went into Alec's like from pure instinct, letting it run through them. They were soft like silk. Alec's one hand was supporting himself on the hood of the car, the other was on Magnus' back. "Alexander..." Magnus breathed out, when they were so close Magnus could see his own reflection in Alec's eyes. Alec moved closed, but leaned his forehead against Magnus', closing his eyes. "Magnus, I don't want to rush you into anything. We can just go home, I can drop you off at your place." he spoke softly. Magnus watched him, when he opened his eyes. He felt disappointment. He didn't want to leave him. But it was too soon and his heart ached at how Alec tried to move ever so slow, just because Magnus might need it.
Magnus stroked Alec's cheek with his fingers. "I missed you. So much. I feel like I still do, even though you're here, with me." he said quietly. Alec's face seemed pained "I miss you, too. Every second were not together, it pains me to think that maybe you don't want to be with me." Magnus gave a small disapproving noise and said "Alexander, of course I want to be with you. You are..." he struggled to find words "You are the most amazing human being I have met. And i know what happened wasn't your fault. So stop blaming yourself. And although it hurt, my love for you is till there, I don't think it'll ever go away." Alec widened his eyes, surprised but glad "Really? I can only hope." Magnus chuckled and Alec put his fingers under his chin to look him in the eyes "I love you, too, Magnus. I never stopped, never will." Magnus couldn't take it anymore and leaned in to lock their lips. Alec responded immediately, their lips moving painfully slowly, like they were trying to taste every last bit of the other, like they needed to savor it in case there would be no more. But Magnus knew, that he can't ever let him go again. He could finally breathe again.
