Jessie's feet kept hitting the wet concrete as she walked fast to her best friend's house. Usually, she'd call her brother to give her a ride, but she couldn't let anyone see her like this. Her dark hoodie covered her face as she tried to keep herself as dry as possible against the sprinkling rain. Finally, after what seemed like forever, she made it to his house.

Going straight to his front door, she didn't hesitate to repeatedly knock on his door. Jessie began to become anxious as she didn't hear any footsteps coming, but then he appeared.

Zach opened the door to see a drenched and shivering Jessie. "Oh my god, Jessie, what happened, what-"

Jessie didn't let him finish as she lunged forward to hug him. Zach was utterly confused as he heard the tiny girl sobbing in his chest. He stepped back to get a better look at her face to see if he was right, and he was.

"Jessie... what happened?"

What he didn't expect to see was a small cut on her lip and a purple bruise on her cheek.

Zach became enraged already thinking about the possible person who could do this. Jessie was such an innocent girl, never wanting violence involved in her life. But that was already ruined, and possibly will continue as she saw Zach's eyes filled with fury.

"Who did this? Was it Josh? Did he do this?" Zach couldn't hold in his anger as much as he wanted to. He held her face so gentle, but his anger boiled inside of him.

"I don't wanna talk about it, can we just forget about it." Jessie knew Zach was a chill and funny in any situation, but she knew Zach would blow up if he knew the truth.

"No. Tell me who did this. I swear to God I will beat the shit out of them." Zach pulled away from Jessie and started pacing around the room.

"I'm not saying who, because I don't want you doing anything."

"Jessie, you can't let whoever did this to you get away with it."

"Fine." Jessie could feel sadness rushing over her body again. "Josh did it."

The two fell into silence but it ruined as Jessie began to cry again. Zach's body softened seeing his best friend cry. Since they were young, he always felt something more for Jessie, but she always was into other guys. He knew Josh was never good for her, but he could never convince her.

"I'm so sorry. I should've trusted you, and this happened to me. Maybe I deserve it..."

Zach started shaking his head in disagreement. "No. Nobody deserves this. Nobody" He goes to hug Jessie as she buries her head in his chest.

"Can you just... hold me?" Jessie said lowly, but enough for Zach to hear.

Zach tightened his grip around her as she quietly sobbed in his arms. Zach has never seen her so fragile and broken, it made his heartache. They went to sit on the couch and he held her all night till his parents came home and drove her back home. It was a horrible night for Jessie, but she and Zach have never felt closer.
